Exactly right. And yes, Tucker really argued that when the Bible says “Israel,” it doesn’t mean…“Israel.” 🤔
David M Friedman@DavidM_Friedman

Last night, @TuckerCarlson acknowledged, “as a Christian,” the biblical mandate to “bless Israel,” but suggested that the “government of Benjamin Netanyahu” was not biblical “Israel.” Seems to me a pretty misguided point that this son of a rabbi will try to address: — Israel has always been Israel; it has always had leaders, some good some not. The Bible has never qualified the mandate to “bless Israel” by who was leading it (and, btw, I support Netanyahu). — the nation of Israel today comprises a people that prays in the same language, in the same places and with the same liturgy as in ancient times. Its faith is governed by the Old Testament. This is the same nation of Israel referred to in the Bible. — the return of the Jewish people from exile to statehood within the Land of Israel is exactly the Biblical prophesy of Ezekiel, Isaiah and Jeremiah, and actualizes God’s covenants with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. You don’t need to believe any of this, but if you are a self-proclaimed Christian professing allegiance to Biblical covenants and prophesies but denying these principles, I don’t understand your theology.

Sam Harris says his “friend” Joe Rogan has had a “f*cking awful” influence on society. “It’s unignorable at this point.” Harris says he’s reached out to Rogan privately about his “truly terrible” effect on culture, but Joe hasn’t responded. “I’ve tried to reach out to him privately, and he hasn’t responded. But I felt the need to say things about him publicly that I’m very uncomfortable saying about a friend.”

Vance suggests Iran could have used nuclear suicide vests: “You talk about people who walk into a crowded supermarket and have a vest on, and they blow up the vest and a couple of people get killed, and that's a terrible tragedy. What happens when what's on the vest is not something that can kill a couple of people, but can kill many, many tens of thousands of people?”

@MikeLevin Lol, you fucking idiot. You have reversed the logic. The US, a NATO ally, threatened to invade, AND annex (!), another NATO member. Now, THAT is truly insane.

This is truly insane, and it should be front page news across America.  Denmark secretly deployed soldiers to Greenland prepared to blow up airport runways to stop a U.S. invasion. They brought blood supplies to treat the wounded. France, Germany, Norway, and Sweden quietly coordinated against us. This was not a drill. This was our closest allies preparing to fight Americans. Let that sink in. NATO allies. Countries whose soldiers have fought and died alongside ours for decades. They looked at this president and decided they had to prepare for the worst. Fewer allies does not make America great. It makes us more isolated, more vulnerable, and it hands Russia and China exactly what they have always wanted: an America abandoned by its friends. The American people deserve to know how badly this president has damaged our standing in the world.  bbc.com/news/articles/…

There should be a requirement for all of these to either send the detailed bill in paper form or as a (PDF or other commonly readable format) attachment to an email. This nonsense where if you want your bills electronically, you're expected to log in to every vendor every month and retrieve it... Is madness and should be illegal.

I'm so tired of creating accounts for every single bill. Insurance, hydro, internet, gas. Passwords, user names, 2-factor authorisations. I've decided I'm making everyone send me a paper bill and I'm going to pay by check. Enough with all the log-ins and texts to my phone.

Bitcoin privacy sucks because we refuse to fix it at the base layer or give devs the tools to build trustless bridges/L2s that can have near-perfect privacy. As a result: ⛓️ On-chain privacy sucks (but SP/Payjoin help) ❇️ Spark privacy sucks (but is getting better) ⛴️ Ark privacy sucks (but will hopefully get better) ⚡️ Lightning privacy sucks (for most users) This is the raw reality, and is the reason why most people who have a clear need for privacy still use other things like Monero. If we want to change that, we have to be willing to make larger changes to Bitcoin itself. P.S. - just because it sucks doesn't mean Bitcoin isn't still a useful tool, just like (unfortunately) Tether has even worse privacy and can be easily censored but is also a useful tool (for now).

@jimiuorio Is this a serious question? It's a tax, and like all taxes it's justified from the same logic. Not sure why this tax in particular is more immoral than the income tax.

Honest question…the wealth tax is obviously wildly immoral and just terrible policy. For those who support it how do you justify it? Do you pretend that the ultra wealthy “stole thier money” so you have a claim in it?

“I’m not saying that the suspect didn’t do it. His fingerprints are on the gun, that case is going to be made. What I do know is that NCTC was investigating any foreign linkage that could have taken place, not necessarily just to the suspect, but any foreign connections. We were stopped really early on from thoroughly investigating that, and from my vantage point, I didn’t see that investigation being done very thoroughly. The only thing I know for sure is that our due diligence was not done on looking at the foreign links. Considering how prominent Charlie Kirk was, it’s important that every angle is looked into and that a complete investigation actually takes place.” @joekent16jan19

How is it that teenagers can find a drug dealer in like 10 minutes… but somehow the police “can’t”? That doesn’t even make sense to me. Either nobody’s really trying, or something about the system is way more broken than they admit.
