Curve-Fitting. If you ever worked with a quantitative dataset in academia or in the world of business you might feel personally attacked. I for one sure like clicking "smooth lines" in Excel 😬 Source: buff.ly/3OtTgKv

Watching Triston Casa on @RedSox give a live interview during actual play and what the heck is happening? How are they still talking?

@SlackHQ Wonderful - thanks for the update and status. Fixing this will help any geo org collaborating over slack. And if you want to know more about the data we’re using, please see the OGC geotiff data standards.

Anyone else seeing @SlackHQ stripping location data out of geotiff headers in shared files on slack? What a rabbit hole.

@GeoWithJustin @Dragons8mycat To get pedantic, to me ‘graphic’ implies a study of relationships between things. ‘Spatial’ is one of those dimensions. I like graphic because it’s all encompassing. But spatial is fine if you want to be specific to spatial or distance-like relationships.

The nastiest and longest raging product debate we have internally is whether to ask for coordinates in lat,lon (y,x) or lon,lat (x,y) in our tasking UI... Who are you and where do you stand?

@rybavery Nobody I know is experienced at co-registering SAR to a non-SAR image. I've seen cool stuff from @Edgybees that is promising. But it's true R&D work to figure out.

Curious for feedback from the commercial analytics crowd. We've made a conscious decision to *not* invest a lot in geolocation accuracy, as strange as that sounds. I'd love feedback on whether or not that's a mistake. Let me lay out the rationale quickly:
Chris Holmes@opencholmes

@pwramsey @mouthofmorrison @HarelDan @EvenRouault What is the level of accuracy? Couldn't find it in a quick scan of the website. Was expecting something under Product to be 'SAR Images' with details on accuracy, resolution, processing, etc. I too am surprised at no ground control, but I also don't know SAR that well...

@mouthofmorrison @alexgleith We do both! We have customers who want precision to their own 'relative-to-the-problem' reference, and customers who want to co-register to an absolutely accurate truth

@alexgleith Agreed, coregistered images are a better value than absolutely accurate images

@mouthofmorrison @Edgybees I also see huge impact where speed-to-decision is important. If it takes time to review pixel accuracy, it takes time/labor to interpret what is going on.

@mouthofmorrison Thanks for the @Edgybees bump in the thread! I work day-to-day in this problem space at EB. Accurate and precise data matters, especially for the data to be trustworthy and actionable via human review, and especially via automated/AI tasks
