@angelazhay @MarinaPurkiss I think the point is that the Goverment hasn't really made any effort to tell people this new law and by human nature, many people will assume that nothing has changed as it hasn't for many years and will default on their vote due to it.

@MarinaPurkiss Frankly if they don't want to get free ID they probably don't want to vote anyway. Why do critics of it, like you, never address the fact that this is normal across Europe, the US, NI and Australia plus many other countries? Not a peep on that . Why?

Just 6 instances of voter fraud at the last election… Yet new voter ID laws will potentially stop votes of 2.1m people who don’t have the required ID. This new law interrupts the democratic process far more than any alleged fraud ever would …but sure, it’s about democracy.

@DickDelingpole @HelenRSalisbury I agree they're overworked. But they're also very handsomely paid for the rest of their careers once they qualify. Every apprenticeship has worked like this. We always classed it as paying your dues. As far as I know, most waiters outside of London are on £11-£12 per hour.

@HelenRSalisbury Agree that all medical staff should be at the top of the pay chain tbh, but as an educated, well experienced fine dining Head Chef of 22 years this is a real kick in the teeth, anyone off the street can walk in to a salary greater than mine with no training or education at all.

@MarinaPurkiss Non-emergency is crime without an immediate and active threat of danger to life or property. If a rape, break-in, assault, etc is currently happening, that would be an emergency. If it's the reporting of a rape (or other crime) that has already occurred, it's non-emergency.
