@Masterofwhine Northern Spain is incredible this is a bill from a recent weekend in Santander. In a top class seafood restaurant the most expensive white on the list was €22 so naturally I got it and it was beautiful.

I’m turning 50 next year. Yes I know, hard to believe. 😂 I’m not even 49 yet. We normally close our restaurant in November. V quiet in Killybegs then. Can anyone tell me where is good to try and go for a really good exotic holiday in then. Sunshine a must. ❤️

Today we'll return to my happy place @LignumGalway for my first visit of 2026. According to my menu collection it will be the 7th visit. Each one has been memorable and the 🌟 was long overdue and totally deserved. Best restaurant in the country IMO.

@gregsherwoodmw @restlessriverRR Those wines sound great Greg. For some reason I never visited Restless River last year despite being in Spookfontein across the road. Perhaps I was a bit hazy in my planning after the Swartland Street Party. I'll be sure to pick some up soon if possible. The pinot especially.

I didn’t mind if you were gay. Until you paraded in the streets in chaps and with dildos in front of families. I didn’t care if you were trans. We have to get creative for key workers if fuel shortages are ahead. How about a leasing scheme for nurses, teachers etc. to drive unbought EVs? Maybe a separate scheme for open-drive insurance so existing EV owners who can WFH lend their cars to key workers? Any others?

@meathead @BarbaraOneillAU Ehh maybe once technically, but I have personally seen salt mined from pans in the Kalahari desert over a thousand kilometres from the ocean. The same happens in the Sahara. The sands and groundwater are high in salt with little rainfall the water is evaporated off to produce.

These differences are so minor that they are inconsequential. And by the way, all salt comes from the ocean, so all salt is technically sea salt. And next time you are forking out big bucks for sea salt keep in mind that the US government does not define sea salt so you can put any old salt you want in a bottle and call it sea salt and sell it for inflated prices.

@KarlBrophy Having visited both here and Bilbao twice I would favour Bilbao. Less tourists better food (controversial I know) but the quality and price of the pintos in Bilbao is just better. Less 🌟 admittedly but I would take that any day . La Concha is all it's missing.

@DavidMarra @shaunahair Totally agree, it is literally the last night of the year I would choose to eat out. Short overpriced menus with the now typical "sharing mains" options. Let's not forget the cheapest bubbles possible as a top of the menu suggestion for 300% mark up. No Thanks.
