Up until this interview I’d always respected Massie’s principles and never disagreed with anything he said, but I was still suckered into the left vs. right paradigm, and thought “well now’s not the best time for that”. I came away from this with a far better understanding of the inner workings of Congress, and government in general and a new found respect for The Kentucky Grandstander as a person. I soon after watched the Off The Grid documentary on his life and how he rose into politics. And it did nothing but further my respect for him. He supported Trump’s 2024 campaign and I agreed with much of the same points about it that he did. When Trump’s presidency went off the rails in the summer of 2025, I like many others, were faced with a choice. Stick with the president or stick with my principles. I don’t regret my decision for a moment. As Tucker said in a later interview “Thomas Massie is an archetype of who we ought to be as a nation.” Hard working, honest, self-sufficient, thoughtful, principled. All ideals we should hope to live up to. Massie’s principled stance makes him unpopular with the current powers that be, but he can always sleep well at night knowing he’ll never have to defend his choices sometime in the future. I will never stop raising an eyebrow at anyone who opposes him.
