@Davysom71 @DanKingdom96 I get that. I was there and you’re not wrong. But I was also at the first day of the fourth test. It wasn’t amazing either. Bumrah didn’t bowl, Root didn’t bat, Stokes didn’t do his Superman thing. Loads of cricket is kind of ok.

@DanKingdom96 Well the first half of the game tonight isn’t going to attract many naysayers to the game

Just a huge over-simplification. The format is a red herring. Many people who dislike the Hundred like the T20 Blast and T20 cricket generally. The real issues are the alienation of fans, particularly those who support non-hosting counties, the negative knock-on effects... 1/4
Henry Moeran@henrymoeranBBC

Always a lively (ahem!) debate when this time of year comes round. As one person complained, The Hundred is like going to a kebab shop after dining at The Gavroche. A fun analogy, but equally - is there not room for both?

@MICK00000001 @cricket_badger Absolutely. But I paid for that day. I was so happy when they said Bumrah would play, but I didn’t see him. Or Root bat, or Stokes leading by example. I saw Pant break his foot, but not come out to bat having done so. Them’s the breaks. I get that. But still…

@MICK00000001 @cricket_badger I was at Old Trafford tonight. Last time I was here was for the first day of the fourth Test. I didn’t have the same connection tonight, but I did enjoy it. Not all cricket has to live in the memory forever. (Although I love the format, that first day wasn’t the most gripping)

@cricket_badger It isn't for you (or me), it's for the casual cricket fan with the attention span of about 5 minutes who fancies a drink and a night out and the cricket is a side show.

@cricket_badger @sambillings I’ve just come out of Old Trafford. I’m not saying everything about The Hundred is perfect, but it’s a really enjoyable six or seven hours of cricket. And it looks like it will fund everything we love more but lose shedloads of money. So there’s that.

- It will ultimately create a bigger divide between TMGs and other counties - Although it's too late, if the Blast had been invested in as heavily it would have been a better product - The standard of players in no better than the Blast - It's gimmicky - The colours on the screen are horrific - Nopbody else plays this format and nobody else wants to - if a new audience is only interested in The Hundred then the rest of cricket doesn't benefit - it's been infantilised to appeal to the masses - how hard is it to count to 6 and 20? - the overseas investment into the game means the power to make decisions will be theirs too - would you spend that much with no say in the future? I genuinely could go on, but I'm boring myself as I've talked about this bloody tournament for so many years 🤣

@ThatsSoVillage Submitted already, but for the benefit of those that read this thread! We agreed the next ball would be the last, due to heavy rain, so the umpire walks off before I've even delivered it, but still gives the LBW decision from Mid-on!

@JeremyClarkson I remember Danny Baker making a couple of suggestions. Draw keys out of a hat to decide who drives what. Last lap on foot. Genius.

@charliersmith1 This is (the very aptly named) Barkby, waiting at the cafe hatch of our local rescue centre for a sausage. Such a good boy. Just a little lively and lacking in manners. I hope you are ok, and have people around you who can offer support. Keep it going.

This feels very hard to write, but earlier I tried to end my life. I’m currently in hospital, awaiting assessment, not sure what the future holds. If anyone has any pet pics (or other cute pics), I’d really appreciate the distraction ❤️

I was also at Wastwater last night where after a spell of diffused light a bit broke through in the nick of time. A monster pano that will be up in the gallery on Friday, to get the perspective/scale this is 27(!!) frames at 170mm. Bobbins on a mobile but print should be epic

What happened to all that bazball Hype? I thought they played for entertainment but clearly they are playing for personal records. If they really wanted to save test cricket they could have declared by now.
