Usha Vance just became the first Asian American and Hindu American to serve as Second Lady of the United States in American history. The lack of celebration from those who typically champion diversity reflects the sentiments of the movement as not “advancing people of color,” but “advancing people of color who share my views.” This is not “anti-racism,” but conditional racism. The party leaders like Pelosi who are pushing Biden out the door against his will have long known there were serious questions about his ability to serve another four years. Nevertheless, they endorsed him in the primaries and worked to conceal his condition from the American people, such as by attacking Robert Hur and blocking the release of his interviews with Biden. Now, they are trying to overturn the results of the Democrat primaries and disenfranchise everyone who voted in them. But it's not because they've suddenly had a moment of conscience and decided to come clean with the American people about Biden's readiness to serve. Rather, it's because their efforts at concealment failed and the President's poll numbers are abysmal. It is a political calculation, plain and simple, to make a farce of the democratic process in order to retain power.
