@William_Gouge_X @VirgilWalkerOMA LOL - no one claimed there were no consequences for her sin. I'm sure they had a lot to work through and maybe still are. But you know what? Sometimes - only sometimes - the physical addictions (and STD's too) do get taken away. Sometimes God chooses to give that much grace

Yeah, totally a female troll account here (or a beta boomer, effeminate man with low-T sub 100). The fact that you can’t reconcile or critically read the first sentence shows you’re thinking with your big emotions. Someone can be saved and purified spiritually while still facing the physical consequences of their prior sin… ask a heroine addict that makes a sincere profession if their physical addiction and STDs go away when they profess Jesus.

We say we believe in redemption. Then someone actually lives it out, and we recoil. That’s not discernment. That’s something else. The Rahab debate exposed more about us than we’d like to admit: We Don’t Believe in Redemption Like We Say We Do virgilwalker.substack.com/p/we-dont-beli…

@sola_chad (this is more a pet theory than my actual theology, but...) When we die, we literally cease to exist until Jesus resurrects us. Otherwise, where is the miracle?

@DeanAbbott Why does seeing a woman who was a degenerate sinner but has repented, given her life to the Lord and is walking in His favor offend you? Why is hearing her testimony such a triggering event?

Most people think evangelicalism is conservative but, in fact, large swathes of it are radically anti-traditionalist and, in their way, liberal. Many evangelicals see traditional social virtues like modesty, propriety and prudence as hindrances to the practice and proclamation of the gospel and therefore congratulate themselves on violating these norms if, in their minds, doing so "brings glory to God". That's exactly what's happening here. A man and his wife throw sensitive personal information into the social media gutter without thinking for a moment about dignity or social appropriateness and then, when people object, claim that people who value the social virtues they've discarded care less about God.
Trevor Sheatz@TrevorSheatz

My wife was formerly promiscuous. I was a virgin. She was then radically born-again. Committed to church, evangelized constantly, Puritan books in her bedroom, prayer journals, grief over past sexual sin, etc. We got to know each other well for over a year, dated for four months, engaged for two and a half, and didn't sin sexually with one another. Our first kiss with each other was at the altar on our wedding day (reaction pic attached!). We've been married for over five years now, and she's been the most wonderful and godly wife, mother to our three children, and homemaker you could imagine. She's more pure than most virgins, as biblical purity has less to with past sins (though they certainly matter) and more to do with one's current posture of the heart and daily decisions to honor the Lord (Matt. 5:8). We're far too quick to forget the story of the woman labeled as a known "sinner" (likely a prostitute) in Luke 7:36-50 who was washing Jesus' feet with her tears while kissing them too. The Pharisees were shocked that Jesus let a public sinner do this. Jesus responded with a parable about debts being forgiven and ended with this powerful conclusion: "Her many sins have been forgiven; that’s why she loved much. But the one who is forgiven little, loves little" (Luke 7:47). Everyone seems to highlight the benefits of virginity, and it certainly is a blessing. But we forget to highlight the benefits of being forgiven much as well. My wife knows the depths of Jesus' forgiveness more than most people, enabling her to more easily live out a life of passionate love for her Savior. A woman or man's past sexual sin matters. But what matters far more when it comes to deciding who to marry is if the person is truly born again, if their repentance is real, if they truly have a heart for Christ, if they truly follow Jesus and obey his commands. "God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong. God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world — what is viewed as nothing — to bring to nothing what is viewed as something, so that no one may boast in his presence. It is from him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom from God for us — our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, — in order that, as it is written: 'Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.'" (1 Cor. 1:27-31) "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!" (2 Cor. 5:17)

@DeanAbbott Exactly. They don't necessarily need to feel ashamed in an appropriate setting, but what people are missing is that they're both actually proud of her past. Apparently she talks about her past exploits regularly online.

@LizzieMarbach If a woman was found not to be a virgin at marriage, the penalty described for “whoring in her father’s house” was death by stoning (Deuteronomy 22) It was a capital offense

Comparing a promiscuous woman to a pedophile, rapist, or murderer is really dumb & major category error. One is a violent act against an innocent party’s will, who cannot defend themselves. The other is a sexually immoral act with willing participants. Per scripture, one is a capital offense, and the other is not.

I've been married 5 years. Still married because we treat these like law: • Bed is for sleep and sex only • No phones in bedroom • Kids asleep? We talk. 5 mins or 3 hours. Doesn't matter. We talk • Pray together before sleep • We eat every meal together • No screens when eating • And we never, and I mean NEVER criticize each other in public Your marriage is your son's blueprint, and your daughter's standard.

@JesusMetal1689 Nope. But no one is saying he needs to - the question being asked is can a chaste Christian man CHOOSE to marry her? It seems like a lot of professing Christians don't think so

I would take that a step further. Let’s say that the repentant woman in question is in every respect like “Bonnie Blue” (look her up if you don’t already know, but be prepared). Is a chaste Christian man wrong for not considering her for marriage, specifically for her past?
Greg Williams@CSASuperman

I've changed my mind on how to deal with this ridiculous show of self-righteousness that shows up every 6 months. Pious: A REAL Christian would marry a repentant whore (no condition listed)! Me: you won't apply that same standard to a man. P: yes I do. Me: Joel Webbon. P:

@hrkahrig Rushing to defend the woman from Pharisees calling a redeemed daughter of God "slut" and "whore" and that she should have no value? That her redemption is somehow incomplete or less than yours? Guilty as charged

God can absolutely redeem her and make her spiritually pure. Sure. She still has baggage and she is not, by definition physically pure. There is no such thing as second virginity. Look how seriously God took a woman’s virginity in the OT. Literal death sentences for defrauding a husband and not being a pure bride. A promiscuous daughter in a Levite Priests home was to be burned in fire. Today, less than 5% of women are virgins on their wedding day(it was 93% 100 years ago)… and now we have all you boomers telling young men not to consider a girls virtue before marriage… to not worry about the fact she’s been ran through by the football squad… no biggy… wife her up! Until the western church gets back to slut shaming and teaching purity to both daughters and far more importantly to fathers… we’re never going to get back to Godly homes. 84% of “christian dads” refuse to take their job seriously and send their daughters to public school and then college to get their innocence stolen. Most Christian fathers are going to be held to account on judgement for not keeping their daughters pure. God destroyed nations in the OT for promiscuity and now we have pastors and church leaders telling young men to wife up these whores, and by default letting the women in their churches know it’s no big deal to go out whoring because pastor Buck has your back and will encourage that virgin boy to marry you anyway… what a sad state of affairs we’ve landed in.

@VirgilWalkerOMA Yet again, more dishonesty. The issue with @TrevorSheatz and @TomBuck is that they want young men to treat redeemed promiscuous women as viable marriage material as if they are virgins. Tom has backpedaled quite a bit, but the issue for so many others remains. It’s absurd.
