This H-1B worker has lived in the US for nearly 20 years and built a family here. His mom was dying in India. To visit her, he would need to wait months to book a consular appointment--with the soonest one available likely being scheduled one year out. He made the difficult choice of not visiting his dying mom because leaving without an appointment would mean separation from his children, job, and his other obligations. Much of the commentary around immigration focuses on how such bureaucratic burdens undermine immigrants’ ability to contribute and innovate. But we must remember that this red tape also prevents these people from being fully engaged with their own lives and meaningfully present in the lives of others. This matters too, and these seemingly non-economic problems will eventually translate into economic costs. NEW: Woman screams "I love you" and has to be helped out of prison after her husband was executed in Texas for killing two people. James Broadnax's wife, British law graduate Tiana Krasniqi, reportedly screamed and banged against the window as he was executed. She reportedly began a relationship with Broadnax after writing to him while he was in prison. Krasniqi claims her husband, whom she married just a few weeks ago, did not commit the crimes; however, prosecutors say he admitted to the killings in jailhouse interviews. Broadnax was convicted of killing two men during a robbery in Dallas, Texas, in 2008. "They killed my husband," Krasniqi said. "My husband suffered so bad from the lethal injection that he had a nosebleed and bruising on his neck. The families laughed as they watched. Is that justice?" She is now threatening to "expose everyone."

Jailhouse interview from 2008 resurfaces, showing James Broadnax admitting to murdering Christian-music producers Stephen Swan and Matthew Butler. I’m told that international fugitive Bryan Rafael Gomez was arrested by ICE Boston in Worcester, MA on April 4th, and had been detained in a facility in Rhode Island where he was issued a deportation order on April 28th by an immigration judge. On Tuesday, I’m told Judge DuBose ordered Gomez be released from ICE custody on the grounds of “continuous unlawful detention”, while ICE argued that Gomez was subject to mandatory detention due to having an international arrest warrant for homicide. I’m told Gomez was released, is now roaming freely again, and ICE can’t rearrest him due to Judge DuBose’s order. He was caught and released at the southern border by the Biden administration in 2022.
