I want to fund a space warfighting prime. Space is a unique domain. It's huge, hostile, and fragile — so we need tech that can help America secure outer space *while preserving the domain itself.* If you're thinking about the future of space and defense, please get in touch.

@billykyle How would that even be possible over 6 times a week charging ?

Living at an apartment that offers free charging might be one of the biggest cheat codes. A full charge at $0.20 per kWh is about $20 saved each day, totaling upwards of $500 per month - assuming a full charge.

@GigWorthy01 I pay $3500 for rent and own an EV. My neighbors pays $3500 for rent and owns a gas vehicle. I think you can do the math as to who is getting the better end of this deal.

@billykyle Still paying for the apartment, so it’s priced into the price of your rent not really cheat code. Solar power charging on your own land is more of a cheat code.

If you are getting in when it reaches 100% and driving, bringing it down below 80% it’s not as bad. Time spent above 80% shortens the battery life. Yes leaving it parked for a week at 100% is worse than an hour. If you’re driving enough for you need 100% then do what you have to do. If you’re ending the day at 50% then you would be better served by charging to 80%. At the end of the day, it’s your money and your decision clearly. I’m not one of these people that tries to baby my battery. I use it, but I try not to do things that will cause me to spend money.

@billykyle No one charges to 100% each day. 80% is recommended, and few go from 80% to 20% on a daily basis either. Typically charging a Tesla is a rounding error on the electric bill. I agree apartments should all have charging available and of course free charging would be a bonus.

@billykyle Do you think you’ll keep driving it over a million one day? I know Tesla’s generally last for decades if taken care of really well.

Just rolled over 20,000 FSD miles since updating to v14.2. Between the 3 Teslas I’ve owned over the past 5 years, I’d say that number is well over 100,000 miles. FSD is one of the best pieces of software available right now and is only getting better 🤓
