@Quirknky Like do you want them to understand caucuses? or just how a chapter works?
English

@bioleera Assume this is someone fairly new who is trying to ‘get’ DSA. But also share whatever fits the bill, more texts not bad here
English

@SATaravine @pkgandakin @moistcoffeecake I mean I let this take out only because long haul maintained their majority. I think they'll have more legitimacy now they've overcome this challenge. Not really allowed to be called fringe anymore. Only possible with this election.
English

@bioleera @pkgandakin @moistcoffeecake “Conflict avoidant compromises” this isn’t unfair. But it’s unwise not to see why those may be necessary and valuable in the context of our dependence on purely voluntary labor & still unessential nature of participating in DSA for most of the work people want to do individually.
English

@moistcoffeecake It stunts the growth of membership development. The correct strategy can still fail if its not wholly understood. I believe citizens should have oversight over the military despite no expertise. I think silos ultimately are conflict avoidant compromises.
English

@chairmanmeowing @thiccgenius Im not sure it even applies to nyc. Yall are weird. At the very least electoral and awwg should be treated the same. You maybe also have too many wgs with too big of bodies leading them.
English

@bioleera to their point, how exactly is deference to expertise a hinderance? what does it hinder? is it perhaps good to hinder people making uninformed decisions?
English

@thiccgenius @bioleera didn’t LA just have a commie, smc and uncaucused slate whose point of unity was “stop pushing people out of work?”
English

@dimitrovhimself @pkgandakin @chairmanmeowing I think what started the discourse is no kings taking no stance on Iran. The op says keep the target on tax the rich. PK says that would be a step back. So if we aim at trump, should we insist on weighing in on Iran?
English

@bioleera @pkgandakin @chairmanmeowing Trump is the leader of us international policy. I don't think you can separate them.
English

I’m sorry, but making No Kings about taxing the rich would be a step back in political consciousness. The identification and denunciation of the enemy is a virtue and a step in front of economic demands, not behind
Julie@julesquinns
We will have an NYC-DSA contingent where we will very clearly be demanding taxes on the rich. Better yet: join the NYC-DSA crowd canvassing training tomorrow night and be the change you want to see in the world by canvassing the generic anti Trump rally for real leftist demands
English

There is a lot of ambiguity that comes from the hyper development of the national state in the 20th century. See also Mohandesi's work on the topic. I feel confident I can link to a huge essay, because MUG folk like to read.

Earlier this week, I broke fast at Rikers Island with New Yorkers in custody, Department of Correction staff, Commissioner Stanley Richards, and Councilmember Yusef Salaam.
It was a night that will stay with me for quite some time. People sharing what little they have: breaking bread, offering prayer, making space for one another’s dignity even in the hardest place.
In a system too often defined by what it takes, I was reminded of what it means to give—mercy, dignity, and humanity.
May we extend that mercy as far as we can. Eid Mubarak to all.
