Old Etonian, at school with William and seemingly another honorific hopeful, Tom Sykes, furious his self-important personage was not secretly informed that Meghan was being smuggled into Highgrove to meet Charles without Syke’s approval, has turned quite nasty. “There is no public appetite for reconciliation” declares the man who often seems to hide behind the royal furniture or underthe bed at Montecito to report the latest royal secrets before anyone else. Declaring that the monarch owes loyalty to his heir he forgot to mention that the heir even moreso owes loyalty and respect to his father, yet continues to insolently attack him at any opportunity with what Queen Camilla describes as an earth-shattering temper. So a very miffed Tom Sykes let rip and blasted King Charles for letting the side down. And, just as I thought journalism couldn’t sink below the gutter it has already reached,, Sykes reports those close to this upstart prince, while careful to never say so, will tell you that William perceives a causal link between the stress his brother inflicted and what happened to Kate. As usual, no names, no pack drill, just this endless queue of undisclosed sources that never materialise in real life. What it does do however is fit neatly into the Kensington palace narrative that justifies brother grim, William. not wanting to make up with his brother when the real reason is he knows Harry and Meghan, as a team, expose both himself and Kate Dolittle as utterly ineffective. Such a new low exposes the depths of desperation they have both reached to protect their privilege and wealth and a monarchy sinking further into a slough of despond.
