I took my next door neighbor(of 30 years) some eggs this evening. She said she had something to tell me, as only her good friends knew, and she considers me a good neighbor/friend. She has cancer. A rare blood cancer. No symptoms. She is going to live like she doesn't have cancer. I think that is a good plan. I told her I would pray for her.

Been doing some all nighters recently and I genuinely dont know how people go about sleep deprived 24/7 by every single metric my quality of life feels much much worse. What videogame or TV show is worth that?

@jaylyn600 @jethrothekenite Nobody except everyone in Scandinavian countries and plenty of people in the US, like me. People stay inside and hibernate after it’s dark because most cities in America are not safe after it’s dark (or even before).

@jethrothekenite Except nobody gets up hours early to enjoy the outdoors before work. They do it after work, after school. When it's dark after work and school, people just go inside and hibernate on the couch in front of the TV contributing to depression and obesity.

This is a step in the wrong direction, actually. According to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, "current evidence best supports the adoption of year-round standard time, which aligns best with human circadian biology." Morning light > for health than evening light.

My last semester in college I shared classes w a Norwegian exchange student. We became friends and—as was the case in most of my friendships—spent most of our time together endlessly roasting each other. She’d go on about how stupid and fat Americans are. How terribly unsophisticated we are relative to her highbrow European standards. How our ridiculous foreign policy is the root of all evil in the world. And on and on and on. One night we stayed out late and got properly drunk and toward the end of the night she looked at me like she was about to cry: “Okay I don’t have any more jokes to make. Honestly, I love America. Everyone does. The whole world wants to be American. When we grow up, we get two choices: business or medicine. It’s crazy to meet so many people who believe they can become artists and musicians and writers. No one in Norway thinks like this. That’s why I came here, I just wanted to see it for myself.” Goddamn that hit.

@VincetOmniaDeo @cIass_man I live on there, and then when I check “For You,” it’s got a bunch of bangers from my mutuals that it didn’t put on “Following.” It’s all way too over-engineered. I blame Indians.

@HluvsLuminosity They don’t. People live in many different worlds. “For those with eyes to see” etc. implies that many perhaps lack the eyes. Yes, you do—preserve and protect them! No pearls before swine.

@bitsofpaul It is very bizarre, sometimes I feel as though said people don't exist in the same world that I do, definitely not the same emotional/mental landscape. I have a gift of seeing an overview of many perspectives- yet I too also have valid emotions & feelings.

It's weird when a parent flip flops caring what u think now versus never caring what you thought all your life growing up, it's like why do u need my approval now, you didn't feel like you needed it a month ago either. Let me live my life & allow me my peace.
