BullMQ, one of the most widely used Redis job queues, now has a native Rust implementation. 🦀
cargo add bullmq-official
Built natively with async/await and Tokio : idiomatic Rust API, Result-based errors, workers that share processors safely across tasks.
What's included in v1.0.0:
→ Delayed and prioritized jobs, deduplication, rate limits
→ Configurable retries, backoff, stalled-job detection
→ FlowProducer for dependent job trees
→ Cron and interval-based recurring jobs
→ QueueEvents for lifecycle observability
The interesting part: it runs the exact same Lua scripts as the battle-tested Node.js, Python, PHP, and Elixir implementations. Jobs produced in Rust can be processed by a Node.js worker, and vice versa, no adapter layer needed.
Performance is already competitive on day one : slightly ahead of Node.js for sequential and bulk job ingestion, on par for high-concurrency processing.
A solid way to adopt Rust incrementally in an existing BullMQ-based system.

brocabs.co.za SA has already implemented this, any Kenyan developers interested in collaborating to do this?

@brian_yehnda Check sitwego.com Kenyan based ride-hailing platform, Upfront fares. No hidden cuts. 0% commission for drivers — so they keep more of what they earn, riders enjoy fair prices every ride, and anyone can improve the codebase.

@SamProgramiz When you need strong choice for distributed background jobs, especially if you want database-agnostic persistence.
English

Shouldn’t background processing be a language feature?
How bad is rust’s support for concurrency that you need a whole third party library for background processing?

Clicky is Mac-only. So I built her for Windows and open-sourced it. Meet Clacky, an AI buddy that lives next to your cursor and sees what you see. Ask her to teach you anything on your screen… or tell her to go, and she just does it. Powered by @claudeai. Fully open source 👇

C++ and Java don't even require you to write unwrap to cause a crash, they might just crash at any moment when using a variable.

Fable is absurdly good at building @expo apps.
In a day, I built Amber. A place to save almost anything and let AI organize it all for you.
Built on Expo + Convex + Clerk + AI SDK.

I've decided to go with @palpluss_future by @the_bazarin for MPesa integration in my app.
It's a payment platform that seems to have really good DX.
With docs for both STK Push and B2C payments which I need.
I'll give it a review once I get things up and running.
