@acdmma_ There is an effectively infinite skill ceiling in almost any sport and mastery is based on comparison to competition. So adding skills won't make it harder. Quality of competition results from participation rates and support infrastructure. Both are much higher in boxing than mma

@samaroooont Sherdog not only has all the results and records, they also used to have play by play writeups of all the fights. The problem with people not watching is because mma has gotten way less attractive to watch to the point where the "hardcore" fanbase just doesn't exist any more.

@heynottheface The problem is really that they would actually need to build US boxing back up from a really low point and they haven't shown any ability to do that. TKO is great at monetizing products, but they also oversaw a massive decline in popularity of both mma and wrestling.

@heynottheface The counterargument is that the audiences are in longterm decline, the product has been severely and longterm damaged and the business is extremely politicized. That has massively helped them right now, but leaves them extremely vulnerable to backlash as political winds change.

@OpenNoteGrapple The bigger difference is that outside of Silva all of those guys were young and they were way past their best at the age when Merab won the title. His game is entirely based on athleticism, so time was running out fast.

The fighting ended in 2023 and both sides have basically agreed on a longterm peace plan before Trump got into office with just a few details left to negotiate. He just inserted himself into the talks to collect bribes and to pretend he did that.

@benfowlkesMMA The obvious problem is that their rankings are shockingly bad. Seriously, look at them. Like they were made by someone who doesn't follow the sport. BW has Song at 5, Cejudo at 6 and Yan at 7. How do you even get there? And almost every division's top 10 is like that.

@day9tv Zerg more than any other race is completely balanced around their supply cap starting in the early mid game. If you increased the supply cap, they would just out eco boom everybody and/or use roach/swarm host compositions to prevent any other race from even getting to 200 supply.

@benfowlkesMMA To be fair, at a time when they didn't have medication you were kind of screwed if you had a biological defect affecting your brain. Even today there are conditions you can't do a whole lot about. Doctors will just use more polite and fancy language when they give that diagnosis.

@bennettbearbro @DanRafael1 Jones got saved by the UFC pressuring USADA and changing their USADA contract. It had 0 to do with lawyers. Jones got caught for Turinabol, a synthetic PED. If it is detected at all, you failed your test. Levels only matter is if the substance is naturally occuring in your system

@DanRafael1 Levels do matter. Usada had to backtrack their insane 100% liability clause after Jon Jones lawyers absolutely dog walked them. You have nanograms and pico grams of all sorts of drugs you don't take. As a journalist, you need to educate and update yourself.

@lthomasnews I'll say 5/10. Would be a 6 if the production/atmosphere was better. Most fights featured known guys and the pacing was very good, but it really lacked matchups that I was invested in. It should be noted that on my scale I expect this UFC show to be about a 3/10.

It seems they give those guys a long time to recover and just need them to be able to stand for the match to continue. So it only counts knockouts that are as bad as the worst boxing/mma knockouts.
