@bkcinny @HannahDCox Don’t disagree—but my great-grandparents were Irish immigrants on my mom’s side and French immigrants on my dad’s. Outside NW Ireland, there’s not much confusion. My Irish side spoke Gaelic + English; my French side spoke French at home. Both valued education. 🤷‍♂️

@StephenDespinJr @HannahDCox Interesting. I don’t think it’s not totally valuing education, My family is from Haiti and my family speaks three languages fluently. Plenty of times that we have to take a moment to figure out what word means what and than translate in our heads before speaking lol

@StephenDespinJr @HannahDCox Butttt than you also have to realize that every region/area has its own style of speech. US proper English is our own adaption of the British English. I think ppl love to jump to conclusions instead of asking questions. Only way I was able to survive the south lol

Tennessee is considering a bill tomorrow that would put foster kids with no criminal record in prison. Similar policies have led to mass r*pe and t*rture of innocent children in prison in New Hampshire other states. You can help us kill this bill today. Tennessee (like many other states) has so many foster kids that they don't know what to do with them. Many of these kids are being taken from innocent parents, because they get federal money for every kid they take. Because of this, they want to label foster children "in need of heightened supervision" and put in prison with juvenile offenders. New Hampshire did this with the "Youth Development Center" prison. As a result, over 2000 foster kids were abused. Imagine the things that happen to people in prison. That was being done to foster kids who had committed no crime. One child, David Meehan, says he was r*ped and beaten hundreds of times by YDC staff. He recently won a $38 million lawsuit for it. We're going to stop even a single Tennessee foster child from suffering David's fate. In this thread, I'll tell you how you can help.

@KellyLMcCarty Prince was amazing performer. But do you know how many ppl complained about him? because they couldn’t place in a “gender box” it’s unfortunate but every generation complains about the current musical genre. Unfortunately most great artist aren’t appreciated till gone…

An 82 year old man named Luis Leon came to the US in 1987. He sought asylum from political persecution in Chile. He’s been in the US ever since & was granted a green card. He lost his wallet (and green card) in June & when he went to replace it he was disappeared by ICE 🧵

I took this viral quiz that attaches your food preferences to your socioeconomic class. The results were pretty predictable (poor people like hot dogs, rich people like oysters kind of stuff). It's easy to see why some foods might be coded as upper class due to price and accessibility. But what's interesting is the lower class's reaction to those foods (they often see them as gross). @AceDoloX1 @CollinRugg Actually check stops at 30mins prior to flight, they can’t accept bags 40mins prior. 60mins is for international. Frontier is a different breed because the agents make commission off of certain things. So they push that. I’ve seen agents not access elderly customers over money

@HannahDCox We used to buy fixer uppers in questionable neighborhoods while we saved for a better house. Are they really looking at all houses or just nice ones in good areas with good schools?

1. Capitalism didn’t cause these problems, bad government policies impeding capitalism did. 2. It’s a nice sentiment, but it’s not true. A lot of them really do just hate anyone more successful than them because they’ve been fed a victimhood mentality and communist brain rot slop by both parties for the past decade. America has a growing population with low agency, resentment, and greed as its guiding force and that should scare you.

Idk what other women experienced, but changing your name for marriage is SO much work. It has literally been like a second part time job for months now and I still can't get my pre-check back. Not to mention the identity crisis I have in identifying and introducing myself now. I thought the arguments against it were based in feminism but honestly if you're marrying at a point in life where you've established yourself it's a logistical nightmare and confusing for everyone, especially yourself.

What a load of 💩 Trust me when I say you KNOW how a church feels about gay marriage because either way they’ll talk about it far more than anything else. They’re either trying to validate their left wing audience, or they’re overly focused on niche issues for their right wing audience (while avoiding far more common sins like gluttony and lying and cheating) to ensure their people never feel confronted on their own issues. Like I said all along, this man’s refusal to take a stand on pressing issues is both beta and sus. The far more authentic thing to do would be to say you’ve struggled to find a church you agree with on every issue and disagree on this front.
