As the Trump Administration does everything it can to kill wind, solar and batteries even amid soaring electricity demand and costs, its up to others to ensure we have the power we need at the prices we can afford. Fortunately, states like Illinois are stepping up. The Illinois Commerce Commission has decided to reopen their energy procurement plan thanks to an emergency petition from the Joint Solar Parties (@SEIA @ILSolarEnergy @SolarAccess). Proposals like increasing resources to Solar for All, adjusting renewable energy credit procurements, and adding capacity to the Adjustable Block program are on the table. Illinois is setting the example for how states can reduce the impact from the administration and Congress gutting clean energy tax credits. More here: illinoissfa.com/announcements/…

That’s the scale of possibility Bill McKibben laid out on the Energy Capital Podcast. And here’s the kicker: with agrovoltaics, farmers can still use that land. Grazing, shade for certain crops, pollinator habitat, even just as fallow land. French wine growers reported 20-60% higher yields with shading from solar panels.
