I’ve been a single-screen-only kind of guy ever since I discovered tiling window managers (specifically yabai on mac). It’s just incredible. Single handedly the greatest improvement to my productivity to date.

@peer_rich Agreed, the current wave of hate is going to fizzle imo. It’s not even GitHub’s fault really. Times are changing, of course the systems need to update to match.

prediction: no one will ship a github alternative no new startup, nor existing series C / beyond not linear, not vercel, not cloudflare :(

Angry that tiling window managers aren’t the default

These briefs are so intelligent it’s scary. They catch all the little things that aren’t necessarily front of mind, and they’re beautiful. Can’t help but hype up @diabrowser, as someone who swore to never leave Arc.

I'm gonna say it: As it stands today, @cursor_ai is the best agentic coding tool out there. No jumping between terminal and editor, nice UI and you don't have to switch the tool if there's a new model. change my mind.

i really dislike that a lot of products, in an effort to become "AI first" are abandoning a lot of the things that made them great i don't want my editor or task manager to be an agent interface, nor do i want to claude to generate one.

@Mappletons Yes! I just tweeted about this. This is naturally, obviously what happens when earth shattering technology is released to the public. Cut them some slack!

I don't work on reliability & scaling at GitHub, but the people who do aren't bad at their jobs. They're dealing with unprecedented scale from agents. It's easy to shit on GitHub from the outside if you're not in charge of 30X-ing capacity within a few months. Have some grace.

@hasen_95dx @adamdotdev Guy finds out that professionals need to do things that non-professionals don’t. Yes, the profession you get paid big bucks for requires you to have and apply specific technical knowledge.

@adamdotdev Did you enjoy programming jobs before AI? The docker configs, the AWS dashboard, the RabbitMQ queues, the mountain of npm dependencies, the hexgonal architecture, the repository pattern, the interactor pattern .. etc Did you enjoy all of that?

I’m going through the craziest burnout I’ve experienced in my ~17 year career I’ve been sick for 16 days now, haven’t even been able to go for walks I kind of fucking hate AI I think all of these things are related

@mattyglesias Yes. A force multiplier. It’s difficult to tell where the road is headed but it feels like, unfortunately, it is not this. Could be wrong

Five months in, I think I've decided that I don't want to vibecode — I want professionally managed software companies to use AI coding assistance to make more/better/cheaper software products that they sell to me for money.

unpopular opinion: I haven't used Figma text layers in last 3 years every component uses a text/heading component instead. buttons, inputs, cards, everything. no raw text layers, no text styles panel just convinced the whole design team at @opencode to rebuild our system like this 🫡 why: - figma's type panel is painfully slow to work with - auto-layout is baked in, skip the wrapper frames - typography variables just work video overview below 📹
