I rewatch Revenge of the Sith almost every year, and each time, I desperately hope it turns out differently, knowing it won’t, yet still I hope. I have never rewatched any of the Star Wars sequels.

Only one chance in this lifetime… Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him. I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.

@daiikoise @AgingAnarchist It is, but the vast majority of the population live near/around LA or SF. I lived in California for 10 years. It’s one of the most beautiful states in the country, but the people and state government are insufferable.

@ojisantakashi It’s the algorithm. 3 out of 5 posts I was seeing were Japanese for a week or two. Then started seeing a lot of Russians. Now it’s back to mostly US centered for me.

It’s not even a hidden thing anymore. It’s just in the settings now as a “feature,” disguised behind weasely wording. I guess you could argue it’s a growing problem because there’s few, if any, non-smart TVs on the market anymore and none of the manufacturers are remotely slowing down with it.

@blw1138 TV manufacturers got busted spying on people over a decade ago too, so the phrase "a growing problem" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that tweet you quoted.

As someone who has worked with many tv vendors professionally, this is sadly 100% true. Smart TVs are awful. Give me a plain panel that only takes input and let me hook up my own devices.

This is a massive and growing problem for American national security. Unbelievable amounts of sensitive and classified information is captured, scraped, and sent back to foreign nations. And users have no idea. Nobody expects that their TV or monitor is a surveillance tool. When I have joked that Smart TVs should be illegal, I am only half-joking.
