Yankees traded for some overpaid, overextended lightweight in Giancarlo Stanton. Red Sox got a superstud outperforming him at much less length and total value in JD Martinez. But please tell me again how Brian Cashman is a "genius".

@3milelyle @Buster_ESPN In 2013-14, "Kickers made 77 in-game tackles...on 6,108 combined punts, kickoffs and attempted field goals and extra points" (sbnation.com/nfl/2014/9/17/…). That's 1.3% of the time. If you want pitchers to bat 1.3% of the time (once every 2 or 3 games?) then I'm cool with that.

@bmh22b @Buster_ESPN Punters are required to tackle. Some are even athletic enough to be the third string QB like Marquette King and Ray Guy. Darren Bennet and Seabass have throttled return men. Bad example.

@3milelyle @Buster_ESPN I can list 5 pitchers who are good hitters too - not a good argument. What if *all* punters were required to be a RB/QB? And don't they tackle guys only out of desperation (like when it's about to be returned for a TD)? How many injuries if punters had to make 4 tackles per game?

@baseball_ref FYI - strange, but it seems like retired pitchers' minor league ERAs are rounded to the nearest run. At least every one I've checked (e.g. Beckett, Oswalt). Currently active pitchers don't seem to be affected.

Is a comeback for the ages brewing in Oakland? Nathan Eovaldi has a no-hitter through 6 in his first game since 2016 following a 2nd Tommy John surgery.

@logmatic The best way to ensure that you will never have me as a customer is to make me jump through ridiculous hoops just to watch a demo video of your product. And then not give me permission to watch it anyway.
