@boatboatdan

I'm a Canadian Male in my 40s, father and husband. I am generally left, but I try and take each issue on merit, focus on the principle and the logic.

@CalgaryDave So in a democracy, if your province preference doesn't match the country, you secede? How about if your city's preference doesn't match the provinces, secede? What if your cul-de-sac's preferences don't match your city's, seceed?

If you know NOTHING ELSE about Canadian Politics, know that this alone is why Alberta needs out. 34 out of 37 opted to go blue in the federal election. By all rights, a mega supermajority. 0% of them have any say, federally- and if they do, the needs of Quebec and Ontario come first. There is no fair deal we can make with the present framework- where 92% of the will of the province is consistently ignored, while people at the opposite end continue oppressive lawmaking, regulation, culture, and views towards Alberta.

@NanaCanada333 Probably not, but you are certainly the minority. I don't see anything like a "communist takeover" personally.

@guyfelicella This seems too strong. I think the important caveat is to talk about where to get better information? X can absolutely be a cesspool, no question, but other sources have their own problems. Its a hard problem. To me X is just people talking, with some right/wrong/lying/etc.

Twitter used to inform the world. Now it misleads it. From breaking news → to broken trust. From real people → to bot armies. From conversation → to chaos. Elon didn’t “fix” Twitter. He flooded it with garbage, handed a megaphone to misinformation, and slapped a blue check on it! There are only a few reliable sources on here now, the rest is misinformation trash 🗑️.

@elonmusk I think the biggest thing to point out is that when FSD makes mistakes at 1/10th the rate, those mistakes may not be ones humans would ever make. FSD may make very strange mistakes, and its disconcerting, but if overall its way safer...

Tesla self-driving saves a lot of lives – the statistics are unequivocal. That doesn’t mean it’s perfect, of course. Even when we improve safety 10X, saving 90% of the million lives lost in auto accidents every year, Tesla will still get sued for the 10% who did die. The 90% who are still alive mostly won’t even know that Tesla saved them. Nonetheless, it is the right thing to do.
Elliot Cohen@ElliotCohe74430

Tesla FSD just saved two lives on the highway. A man walked straight into traffic in heavy fog/rain at 65+ mph. The Model 3 spotted him and swerved safely. Could’ve been fatal for both the pedestrian and my cousin driving. Insane reaction time. Grateful for @elonmusk @Tesla

@TruthFringe In the end I think its body language and rhetoric that turn me off from PP. When I listen and watch him I don't see or hear principles, or even "lets get stuff done", I only hear "I wanna be the boss". Carney reads more practical, like "Let's do a job".

How did so many in Canada end up hating a guy (Poilievre) with a gay father, married a refugee, and came from a humble middle-class background? But yet they love rich boy silver-spoon-fed (Trudeau) and Carney, the rich banker?

@elonmusk One thing to remember: 10x safer is not "never makes mistakes", and the mistakes it makes may be ones that no human would ever make. This means you will get weird headlines and it will *seem* like its not safe.

@elonmusk I think the "debase themselves" wording could be telling actually. It speaks to what they care about, and its pride. At Elon companies that just isn't the axis you need to think on. If you are worried about not"debasing yourself" go where you spend your days ladder climbing.

@elonmusk Concerns I have seen are around the cost of getting registered, which acts as a poll tax. Showing ID makes perfect sense, but if you have to go out of your way to get the ID in question (and pay) there is a bit of an issue there. Need a better ID system to support.

@elonmusk This is the death of the political centre. Most people just want a good life, nothing too crazy. But there is a subtle trend in politics to move away from the centre. The more left/right you are, the more likely you are to donate/run, so over time there is outward pressure.

@RosieRocks28 I think most Canadians just want a sane normal human being. Trudeau only cared about his fame, Polievre only cares about power. Carney won because, even if you don't like his politics, he seems to be working on Canada's behalf instead of his own. He's boring, thank god.

As a conservative, I hope the party stays true to its principles because it doesn't matter who the leader is right now. Until Trump is gone, Canadians will continue to ride the elbows up crazy train. All conservatives can do is sit back and watch the clown show.

@JillCo The disagreement is not about how bad things are, its about how to solve it. For some reason everyone who brings up how bad it is thinks that copying the USA is the cure. News flash: its not better down there unless you are rich.

@KatKanada_TM "Right now" is the key word. Who would you put above? The largest military in the world, with whom we share the largest unguarded border in the world, actively talking about annexing us. I hope and believe this poll will be very different once Trump is out of office.

This image represents the last time I felt patriotic for Canada. I honestly wanted this country to be united. I never wanted Alberta to become independent. But we found out what Canada actually stands for. Now independence is the only way.

The Canadian mainstream media is giving Carney the biggest open ice EVER in recent political history. Punishing food inflation? Housing starts falling? Bigger deficits than Trudeau? They don’t care. They even write articles about Canada being worse off than Alabama but act like it happened all of a sudden - like the weather. Meanwhile, Carney hasn’t removed a single anti-development law, or approved a single new project out of his Major Projects office. His response to food inflation is a recycled Trudeau policy that didn’t work back then. He promised during the election that he would get a deal on US tariffs and so far things have just gotten worse. Meanwhile, the media gush over trade deals that have already been signed by previous governments, regurgitate Liberal spin as headlines, and spend more time scrutinizing the opposition than the government. We all know the Liberals subsidize them. But the Parliamentary press gallery could at least pretend to be objective by telling the truth on Carney’s actual results versus his rhetoric.
Mike Lake@MikeLakeMP

It’s absolutely unfathomable how little scrutiny Canada’s national media is giving the Carney Liberal government, while offering megaphones to partisan Liberal insiders to declare their feelings about their literal political opponent. Where are the blaring headlines about Canada’s record debt, self-inflicted housing and food crises, increasing serious crime rate, and broken immigration system? If we’re going to talk about political machinations, where are the dogged reporters asking MPs who have joined the Liberals about the conversations they’ve had, and with whom, in advance of crossing? Who’s asking the newest Liberal MP why he took the last three months off?! Or if he actually lives in BC or Alberta? These are all important and fair questions that are in the public interest and are, quite simply, not being pursued by almost anyone in the mainstream media. Relentlessly asking Liberals what they think of Conservatives is not the journalism Canada needs at this crucial moment in time.

@BarbaraBalCPC I think its time to rethink the narrative around suicide, and living support. Like so many pro-life people, the anti-MAID care deeply that people not die but don't give a shit about the people themselves. You want to live as a vegetable, your choice. You want to die...

@JonFraserTF Immigration was too high. The question now is what to do about it? Kicking them out is bullshit, blaming them, etc. Honestly I think the answer is to just dial down immigration near zero for maybe 5 years and chill, re-evaluate after.

You are absolutely wrong on the first point. The rapid rise in immigrants, both temporary and permanent, did indeed significantly contribute to breaking our healthcare system. If it was just one or two provinces, perhaps your opinion could hold water, but when every province is having the same problems, then you are wrong.
Iris Gorfinkel, M.D.@DrGorfinkel

Immigrants did NOT... -Break Canada's healthcare system -Tear up family doctor contracts -Close hospital beds Nor did they... -Dismantle community care -Under-build housing, assisted living & long-term care Politicians did.
