Somebody please explain to me why private schools, affordable only by the comparatively wealthy, have charitable status?

@Jennyfurfuls @gersoise32 Good state schools are already out of reach of many due to expensive houses in their catchment areas. Removing private school bursaries would mean that clever kids from less well-off backgrounds would have no chance of a good education and educational ghettos would increase.

@gersoise32 None of that should be an issue or relevant. What charitable functions exactly? If there were no private schools, all children would be treated equally. Watch the govt and rich people level up if their children had the same education as the rest of us! It's discrimination!

My cousins 11 year old daughter just started secondary school, last week was using the 'gender neutral toilets' when a group of year 11 boys were caught filming her under the cubicle door. She's obvs very distressed but the schools response is that it's not such a serious issue..

@RealWorlding This strikes me as an issue that needs to be led by women - it’s their space/rights that are being infringed upon (or not, depending on how you view it). Men aren’t physically or otherwise threatened by trans men in a bathroom; their presence would likely be greeted with a shrug.

Folks.Let me be clear.The wealthy do not take out student loans. I’m now a professional with student loans and it’s bc I grew up in poverty and worked my way out.Nothing , including education was “handed”to me. Everyone deserves the opportunity to succeed without student debt
