I may be tired and a little hoarse, but as I said again and again on the Senate floor, this is a moment where we cannot afford to be silent, when we must speak up. What’s most clear to me tonight is that this is just the beginning, that Americans across this country, no matter their title or party, are ready to be heard. I believe that history will show we rose to meet this moment. It will show we did not let the chaos and division go unanswered. It will show that when our president chose to spread lies and sow fear, we chose to come together, to work together, and to rise together.

Unfortunately, it appears that 5 of the 6 nearby DART buoys for tsunamis are not operational. "To ensure early detection of tsunamis and to acquire data critical to real-time forecasts, NOAA has placed Deep-ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsunami (DART®) stations at sites in regions with a history of generating destructive tsunamis." ndbc.noaa.gov/dart/dart.shtml Buoy 42409 in the central Gulf apparently recorded the "shaking" as a series of deep water waves passed, but not tsunami waves. The other buoys all reporting "NO DATA".

All tsunami forecast water levels are below 1-foot with earliest arrival times in about 1 hour in Puerto Rico. Please refer to tsunami.gov for the latest message.

The American dream, described by a recent Cuban immigrant 👇👇 This hits hard for me. I’m Puerto Rican American, born in the continental USA. BUT, I feel this struggle. My late husband was Cuban. Yes, I’m a widow and my husband was Cuban. He was dark skin, Afro Cuban. People often gave us hateful stares in public because according to them on sight, we were a “mixed couple.” But that’s another story for a later post…back to the issue… Every chance we got, when he was alive, we visited my island, Puerto Rico, because it reminded him of home (Cuba). He felt at home there, but also cried for his people not having the same opportunities we have here in the USA. I deeply, truly understand the struggle of immigrants wanting to have freedom, opportunities, the chance to have a job, work hard, provide for their families. Is there anything wrong with that? Not all immigrants are criminals.
