Nobody is acting like they weren't good, its not about that. Its an economics text.

@PatLovesSports @scott_pianowski again, not what the book is about, it's about the aggregate. I was a season ticket holder for that season and remember it probably better than any season. Of course there was variation. Some did better. Others did worse. The story is about replacing what was lost creatively.

@PatLovesSports @scott_pianowski You’re thinking individual and not in aggregate. The combined WAR of the core players who were on both teams increases 0.4 while the team did win a complete game. The smaller group of new players on the roster were responsible for the increased win total more than returnees.

@WillieTheTiger I think there are 3 catchers who are in with a lower WAR than Posey. 2 were born in the 1800's and Roy Campanella had a career cut short due to being hit by a car and started in the Negro leagues and still won 3x the number of MVPs Buster did.

@bofre82 Posey pretty clearly blows posada out of the water though no? Barely better career totals and played 400 more games than Posey. Plus posey’s accolades. Posada really only had the championships and a few all stars.
