I’ve seen a lot of silly analysis regarding the no tax on tips proposal, but everyone is missing the big point. The IRS spends millions going after tipped employees for mis-reporting or potential underreporting. Last administration there was a whole new task force targeting these lower income workers. By eliminating the tax altogether we can also eliminate this whole division of the IRS. That pays for any lost revenue.
