@donmcgowan @SarahDirtyHorse @GMB I am well aware of their chronic underfunding however the lack of apology & care by the GP practice is unforgivable. My incredible sister & her husband (both Doctors) were the ones who ensured dad was as comfortable as he could have been, and I will always be grateful for this.

@bopaboutdance @SarahDirtyHorse @GMB That’s really awful and I’m sorry. But it isn’t the fault of GPs that they aren’t staffed well enough. There just aren’t enough doctors in surgeries. The government, actively, discourages them.

Good Morning Britain
'We believed the doctor' Laura Barlow, a 33-year-old mother of three from Lincolnshire, tragically died after her liver and bowel cancer was misdiagnosed during a phone consultation with her GP. Her husband, Mike, is campaigning to make face-to-face GP appointments mandatory, believing earlier detection during an in-person consultation could have saved her life.

@SarahDirtyHorse @donmcgowan @GMB My dad was only able to access phone appointments and he died 3 weeks later of exactly the same cancers. Had he seen a doctor, they would have seen that he was literally turning yellow from liver failure along with seeing the sudden loss of weight from bowel cancer.

@donmcgowan @GMB I don’t understand your point, the patients go to see the doctor and spend 10 minutes with them face to face, how’s that different to a 10 minute phone call?

Latest interaction with the broken British state Elderly relative gets @HMRCgovuk letter threatening £10-a-day fine for a late tax return for a deceased relative (of course no tax is due) Try to call HMRC, no one available (of course) so it says use online chat Online chat says nobody is around to speak (of course), so use AI chatbot Chatbot says call (of course) No way of emailing or contacting them Meanwhile the fine apparently goes up How many elderly people do they hound who don’t have younger relatives to sort things out for them? Dread to think. When do you ever hear a politician talk about anything like this?

@David_Challen I used to work in a Wetherspoons and the bouncers were so supportive. Anyone giving the female bar staff any kind of lewd remarks were kicked out. We were very grateful to the door staff!

CALLER: “If you see the girls working in the pub, the banter and the stick that they get, it doesn’t bother them. They just carry on and give it back.” IAIN DALE: “Maybe it does, but they don’t say anything.” CALLER: “No, they don't. That’s just how it is, otherwise they wouldn’t work there.” I’m glad men like this caller are speaking out because we need to expose these misogynistic attitudes, so we can confront and challenge them head-on. This man's claim that it's women's fault for not speaking out about sexual harassment is classic victim-blaming and reflects a deep ignorance of the power imbalance that older men hold over younger women. Men with views like this support and uphold patriarchal systems that perpetuate male violence against women and girls. Similarly, if you are a man who chooses to ignore this behaviour in your friends, you are complicit in allowing it to continue.

"If you don't like it, go away." "Well, then you're part of the problem." Caller Steve offers a defence to Gregg Wallace's actions, but @IainDale isn't having it.

@MissAHadley Hello, I promise your colleagues are top-notch actors as much anything else. If it helps, I used to rehearse aloud on my drive to work. For example, I’d practise my plenary or how I was going to set a practical task. Helped me keep the pace of my lesson

Watched three experienced teachers in my ECT time this morning... it helped in terms of strategies and ideas but not in terms of fuelling my imposter syndrome and it made me doubt myself lots! How do experienced teachers make it look so easy?

@bopaboutdance @LeeBraganza There are accommodations that can be made, one of them is removing the visual countdown. It still only gives them 6 seconds but removes the stress of seeing the time tick away.

Having administered the Year 4 times table check for the last two years I think it would be wrong to scrap it now. The kids genuinely love learning them and doing the check. We need to look at the primary Maths curriculum and bin some stuff off. I'll start, Roman numerals...

A question for the parents of young comic readers - do children like reading comics on screen, PDFs or whatever? Or do they prefer paper? I’m presuming paper but I’m just curious what market there is for digital still.
