I dag lämnar regeringen sin budgetproposition för nästkommande år till riksdagen. => Allt åt alla? (Nästa år är ju ändå ett valår) 🇸🇪🍌👑

"In general, when people selfstyle themselves "entrepreneur", "polymath", or something of the sort, they're not. Real entrepreneurs calls themselves "restaurant chain CEO", "Ski equipment manufacturer", "kidney imaging importer"..." - Nassim Nicholas Taleb

@nikillinit Is anyone applying GPT-3 to identifying patterns in healthcare innovation? Ie. identifying treatments and technologies that have worked in certain fields and figuring out where else they might work; cross-pollination across different medical fields

We need more "flexible experts" in healthcare - people that understand the space but also have an open mind and willingness to entertain new ideas without being dismissive about them

@nntaleb In a world with super debt cycles, and intergenerational wealth transfers due to the modern benefit system we have built for ourselves - not to mention one of the few times in history when the older generation is larger than the younger, democracy might not function as intended..

4) The older generation must not justify its "utility" to the younger one. They earned it. CIVILIZATION: Athenians granted old mules who worked hard a privileged and "honorable" retirement, free to roam with a pension at public expense. That's the reverse of Geronticide.

LOGICAL INCONSISTENCY DU JOUR Someone said "if an old person dies of COVID, it's not a big deal because they could have died of someone else". To be consistent, you must accept: "If a someone kills an old person, it's not a big deal because they could have died of someone else".

@nntaleb And the Golden rule might be "Don't treat the younger generation the way you wouldn't have wanted" or if we're feeling positive: "treat the young generation the way you would have wanted to be treated"

3)Do not disrupt the Silver rule: don't treat the older generation the way you don't want the next generation to treat you. Civilization and group moral rectitude started with the Silver and Golden rules. Geronticide is morally repulsive; only accepted in nouveau-riche societies.

@nntaleb Populist. "If SOMETHING kills an old person, it's not a big deal because they would have died of someone else" would be the correct comparison monsieur taleb

@TankersTmoney @JimmyWar77 It's old but not super-old. Smaller tankers can live over 20. Maybe not in this environmental era, but still enough to see a good up-cycle I would hope. But I agree it doesn't hurt to rejuvenate, at the right time and price.

I’ve really enjoyed the Asness-Taleb feud. Some of the best parts are the comments by the people supporting their “guy”. I’m drawn to the similarity of their views: -Both sides think they are the counterpuncher. Both sides think they were attacked first.

@nntaleb @breakingthemark @bennpeifert Please, can you respond specifically? Rants may be sufficient for others, but we expect better from you. This seems to be a recurring theme and is serving no one, including you and your intellectual capital, for the better.

@JulietteJDI @acs20074064 If we truly cared about our children perhaps we'd try to be a bit more pragmatic about this. Fill all all those empty hotels with the at-risk population. Fill all those Northern powerhouse factories with youth. The old get a a holiday; youth unemployment gets a much needed dent.

@acs20074064 I guess your children are not Italian? The economy and country has been destroyed enough in my humble opinion. As far as I am concerned Italy is family.

He is absolutely right. And that is why we should discuss but eventually move beyond the petty issues raised by the frugal fours. After WW2 US had all interest in rebuilding Europe so why wouldn't each EU State have an interest into rebuilding EU after WW3? #thinkbig

George Soros says EU may not survive coronavirus crisis ... RTRS Soros said the European Union could break apart in the wake of the new coronavirus pandemic unless the block issued perpetual bonds to help weak members such as Italy. uk.reuters.com/article/us-hea…

@JulietteJDI I think perhaps a differentiation between permanent destruction of productive capacity and changes in GDP is in order. GDP as a metric of the economy ain't what it used to be ..

@CliffordAsness @profplum99 @cliffasness Come on guys .. I'm sure Mike could have some good macro/flow inputs and Cliff could make the obviousness of value clearer to us all (after all, if Mike doesn't "get it", how are the rest of us supposed to?). If not for yourselves, lift your egos out of this for the rest of us =)

@profplum99 @cliffasness Someone tell him no for me. He's been rude, he argues tendentiously, and as far as I know he's anonymous (though I think some know him I don't and those trolls are the most annoying). I'm going to debate whether relative value matters with a jerk? Nope.

@cliffasness is apparently a very brave man. C’mon Cliff, let’s do an hour long video interview to openly discuss. I have regularly cited your employees’ good work and am personal friends with one of the authors of AQR’s latest. That doesn’t make the paper right.

@verdadcap If deflationary expectations persist, the value of growth will increase further. RA's analysis only goes back to 1961.. Do you know of any good research on HML factor performance in periods of deflationary expectations?

I often think about this real WWII guide to sabotage for civilians, published by the CIA's precursor. Look at the list of ways of sabotaging office work to cause delay & demoralization and consider how common they are at your job next time you get nostalgic for the office! 1/2
