Today marks the 31st anniversary of the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, a law that has saved countless lives by blocking millions of dangerous individuals from purchasing firearms. I remain committed to building on the progress made by Jim and Sarah Brady.

Devices that turn semi-automatic firearms into fully automatic guns are called machinegun conversion devices – their impacts are devastating. They're already illegal, but they're flooding our communities. My new Task Force is working to address these emerging threats head-on.

The trauma, sadness, loss, and overwhelming sense of regret are unimaginable until they strike home. Losing my father 7 years ago tomorrow to gun violence has been the hardest battle of my life, and navigating a world without him feels like a struggle I may never fully overcome. The statistics are staggering— gun violence has claimed countless lives, leaving families shattered and communities in turmoil. This is why the progress made under the Biden and Harris administration, particularly in passing one of the most comprehensive gun violence prevention policies in three decades, is so crucial. Their leadership has sparked hope, and I believe the Harris-Walz administration will build on this foundation, pushing for meaningful legislation that prioritizes the safety of our communities. Their commitment to addressing gun violence is a key reason I support them. I am determined to advocate for a White House that not only reflects the voices of our citizens but also prioritizes the urgent need to combat gun violence.
