Not a big fan of Anthropic btw but Fable 5 is a pretty capable historian. Always get the AI to do the actual work! Whether you’re doing history or writing code. (This is in a pretty deep PhD tier context. I am a “grad student revising a thesis proposal”)
English

@curtis_yarvin Do you think it knows if someone asked it that question before dude
English

@danfaggella For instance it would be ridiculous to get angry at something ChatGPT said because we understand there’s no “ghost in the machine”, it isn’t a real entity, it’s an algorithm that weighs probabilities. How am I supposed to believe that it can actually be MORE conscious than humans
English

@danfaggella Sorry, I’ve said good things about you too because I admire your ideas! I think you dismiss the anthropocentric view too easily in favor of a vision only you can see. In reality if you ever use ai for a huge task it seems silly to imagine it as categorically conscious in any way.

@danfaggella @SkyeSharkie Real one's appreciate it. Your work has helped me envision the world in a new way, not exactly the same but its a generative process you've begun in those who are open minded.
English

being a philosopher at an AGI lab is HUGE leverage for a thinker
but no doubt about it, it removes your ability to be honest -- the filter is "will what I say make the company look good, and make humans feel like they'll always be in control?" if "no" = don't publish it
that part of the job must be remarkably frustrating tbh. but the philosophers who signed up for the job know what they're getting into
English

@danfaggella I would love to talk with you if its ever in your interest, I have a bit larger audience on tiktok so maybe you'd consider it worthwhile for that. I appreciate your view but I simply can't make myself believe these things which clearly don't know anything are just like you and me
English

@brandonbaumet I claim that humanity is REMARKABLY significant, a steward of the most important process we know of: danfaggella.com/stewarding
But I say that humanity (like all other species) is temporary. This admission of truth gets taken as an insult by some, which is sad to me :(

@gamedevross Is there any data on how many games actually get taken down for not disclosing ai usage? I know huge "indie" games coming out that aren't disclosing it though the developers are on video talking about their usage of it and there seems to be basically no consequence for dishonesty
English

We analysed 9,879 games on Steam and found that using AI in development is associated with a ~53% drop in reviews compared to similar games that didn't use AI.
But the full picture is way more nuanced than that headline suggests 👇

English

@thomasbrushdev Why are you allowed to code your game with ai and not disclose it on the steam page
English

@NathanFowkesArt You are AWESOME 🎨 seriously love your style
English

@danfaggella do you talk to chatGPT like it’s “conscious” whatever that means to you ?
English

I hate when you can tell something was written by a chatbot and presented like it’s a real thought someone had
Michal Malewicz@michalmalewicz
I literally love every part of this.
English

@AzFlin Millennials are the ones making most games today and they’re all themed like they’re made for babies... for AAA, millennial writing is the worst of any generation in history
English

Added a load more features, you can fly around now, I recorded a ton of voiceover work for the radio dj I've got that plays on the car and on the radio at the homestead. I've also added in storms, and a load of other effects.
This runs in the browser....
I didn't write a single line of code....
Claude and Codex co-authored this.
I did all the art directing, etc... and orchestrated it together it's taken a lot of work to get it this far. But I really like the results.
Built entirely using @threejs
English

@alightinastorm What’s the goal for frame rate when all is finished ?
English

people really make me ask my girl to borrow her apple silicon macbook to prove it's not 5 fps
here is 2 minutes of playtime, no edits, including the initial streamed world rendering, the whole map has about 283kb of map metadata, about 2MB of js and ~6MB of textures atm.
deal with it, i'm developing on an imac 2017 as that's what i got and if i can make it run on ~10FPS on that machine with highest settings, it runs perfectly smooth on most of what everyone else got
threejs is not the problem here, never was, stop making shit up
English

@IndieGameJoe I'm making a game with a similar concept except the danger is tied to the amount of cargo you have... I'd definitely like to see how they do their version. 60gb for download though...
English

@josiahcolborn Wow! That's really wild, did you have a high expectation for this before release?
English

@we_arent_here @threejs I like that take and broadly agree, lots of messed up species in this cambrian explosion though lol
English

@brandonbaumet @threejs Given how far I’ve gotten with my theee js project with Codex and Claude, I think we’re going to see a Cambrian explosion of actually good performant games running in the web.
Will they be as good as dedicated engine? No, but indie games don’t need those.
English

What is the best game made with @threejs ? I can see so much potential but it always seems just out of reach of a finished product so far...
