@tunguz I think we should tax 100% of wealth over $100Bln. There is no good argument against it and it only effects like 5 people, all of who still will have $100Bln.

I appreciate this sentiment, but I strongly disagree with it. What all research has shown is that there is a *HUGE* psychological difference in people's minds between paying $0 and just a small nominal amount. When you don't pay anything for something, you end up not valuing it at all. As long as we collect revenue for the public services through individual taxation, paying even a small nominal amount by everyone gives everyone a sense of the stake in the system.

Jeff Bezos: The bottom half of tax payers pay 3% of all taxes, I think it should be zero.

A few years ago, I tried to help out a family member who was having trouble, alternating between renting and homelessness. He had a job, and I told him I’d help him with his finances. When we met up, he was wearing a new pair of Jordans. When I delved into his spending, I found he was renting all his furniture, his TV, and a video game system from Rent-A-Center. He ate fast food every day. I explained to him why that was such a bad idea. I told him how I get most of my furniture from Goodwill and garage sales. Told him rich people don’t wear new Jordans. I even showed him how much his money would be worth in 30 years if he invested the money he was giving to Rent-A-Center. His response? “Sorry, I need nice furniture and I need to look good.” These are the people blaming the rich for their problems.

When I water my lawn, the water isn't getting polluted, I'm not causing my neighbor's water pressure to be low. 49,000 ppl are going to lose electric so the electric can be routed to google and other data centers. As for the old people, first quit eating so much sugar and carbs and the Alzheimer's will go down. BUT, and this may come as a shock to you, good people take care of their parents when they are elderly and frail, they wouldn't leave them unattended with a robot. You're tossing out all this text trying to show us how AI is for the greater good, but I can name more things (besides the data centers) that AI has brought that is destructive to society and the future of our kids. So go sit down and just stop whining that everyone doesn't agree with you (and plans to keep fighting the madness)

Looks like I’ve angered some AI haters, so I’ll repeat this one last time: you have no idea what you’re talking about and you’re simply not keeping up with what’s going on in the real world. Stop acting like a know it all when you’re just speaking from your own privileged position and when you’re basically just trying to protect your own selfish interests instead of rooting for what’s best for humanity as a whole. AI has been around for literally decades, robotics too. But we’re finally reaching the point where things are getting some serious traction, and it couldn’t arrive at a better time. But go ahead, tell me how you’re going to take care of millions of dementia patients and other elderly folks without figuring out some decent solutions to address challenges caused by shortages in skilled workers to keep operations running smoothly. Keep ignoring the massive increase in retiring workers we will be seeing every month for the next two decades. And while you’re moaning about data centers and their water usage, don’t forget to actually check what it costs to watch crap TV, water your lawn or do other mundane tasks which use up a lot more water and energy. Do boycott all those first.

What's notable about this video is that the people who hate technology will completely ignore the logical arguments he makes and keep spouting nonsense because they just want to be mad at the system rather than trying to make anything better.

Not really a loss here. Just a ~187 difference after 10 hours. The real difference is economics: One human = salary + benefits + taxes + HR + turnover + fatigue. One robot = electricity + maintenance. Runs 24/7 with zero drama. China is almost unbeatable in manufacturing, and humanoids are probably the only chance for the US to revamp its manufacturing sector.

@QXsToo It's profane, the metric itself is corrupt. Once you accept that a human can be fairly “compared” to a robot in speed, endurance, or cost, you’ve already accepted a dehumanizing frame. The competition is a humiliation ritual by design and it borders on pornographic exploitation.

FSD literally saved my life and my wife’s tonight. Watch carefully - a car suddenly races in and merges into our lane with almost zero gap at highway speed. On the footage it’s hard to tell just how close it was, but in that exact moment me and my wife both thought “there’s no way a human could react fast enough.” FSD did. In milliseconds it calculated the distance to our front bumper and instantly slowed down perfectly, leaving safe room. Slow-mo shows exactly how razor-close it was. This wasn’t a minor correction… this was a massive accident avoided because of Full Self-Driving. This is why we trust Full Self-Driving with our family. Thank you, @Tesla . This tech is next level.

The average Massie type right winger thinks data centers are secret government surveillance repositories. The average Mamdani type left winger thinks data centers use so much water it kills people. Both think it increases cost of living. America is at risk of losing the AI race
Garry Tan@garrytan

Sanders and AOC introduced a bill to pause ALL AI data center construction. 300+ local bills filed. Half of planned 2026 data centers facing delays or cancellation. Each one brings billions to local economies. The people who say they want American jobs are trying to block the biggest job creation engine since the interstate highway system.

If Tesla is delaying the spring update/new FSD HW4 release because they are working on FSD V14 lite for HW3, I recommend stopping development on FSD V14 lite to prioritize the next HW4 update. I wouldn’t even bother releasing FSD V14 lite for HW3 users. Just leave them all on V12. Who cares? Lmao

this thread is a perfect example showing that the loudest critics are just animals driven by emotion, typing away with no logic or intent simply yelling at a screen, attacking an illusion they made up and perceive in their own reality this is a real Monet painting, but the simple label of 'ai' triggered a complete delusion HAHAHAHA tldr: nobody's opinion fucking matters lol. do what makes you happy!

Get an EV. Abstracting vehicle propulsion from its power source is amazing. My car can run on wind power without a sail. It can run on solar power despite its roof area being far too small to collect significant energy itself. It can run on nuclear power without needing controlled fission under the bonnet. Yes, it can even run on natural gas burned in a power station, which even with transmission losses still leaves it with lower emissions than an ICE car. The future of driving is here and you're in denial if you don't see it.

I have been hearing reports of wrecked Lucid vehicles being purchased at auction, then bricked by being put in "service mode" when connected to wifi. This typically happens after the airbags deploy. In order to get the car out of service mode, you need to take the vehicle to Lucid to have them inspect the vehicle. Really not cool @LucidMotors. I heard it can cost upwards of $15,000. Lucid Airs have been selling at auction anywhere from $15,000-$20,000 with "light damage." The kicker is the part pricing and availability.
