@GingerCoderSham @matvelloso @QuxFooBas If you want that choice you can develop your own damn software. Making every single feature optional makes software a horrendously complex and unmaintainable mess.

@JIM_THE_BOSS_ @nixcraft Climate change is a verifiable fact, and climate change deniers are in the same boat as creationists and flat-earthers, all being people who reject science.

Google Chrome silently installs a 4 GB AI model on your device. > No consent dialog. No opt-out UI. Re-installs itself if the user removes it manually. That is the true definition of malware.

@sohil_shah20 @nixcraft How exactly do you think the query itself would not go to Google servers? You think they'd store the entire internet index on your device?

the 4gb silent install is bad but the actual scam is worse. the on-device gemini nano powers help-me-write and tab suggestions. the visible “ai mode” pill in the omnibox? that routes every query to google’s cloud. you pay the 4gb storage cost for “local ai” and your queries still hit their servers. it’s bait and switch dressed as privacy

@nixcraft the problem is not local ai the problem is silently turning the browser into an ai runtime with no clear consent or uninstall path show the model size show the update policy give users a real off switch that is the minimum bar

@localoptimiser @matvelloso You think it's going to kill people's batteries because you don't understand anything about anything here.

@matvelloso 1. Pretending you're not sending it all anyway. 2. Nobody said they wanted to send it. 3. How much are you budgeting for the batteries you'll be replacing in everyone's device?

@matvelloso @AristoSamos Advanced installation options are usually pretty good for this sort of thing. They're a bit less common now than they used to be though.

@_c3nd @Ethan_G1689 @WASPmexicano Removing only incels and not femcels from the stats would by definition skew the results. It's absurd to even suggest this.

@_c3nd @Ethan_G1689 @WASPmexicano *You* use femcels for women because you're a chronically online moron. And see even if you use it this is where functional illiteracy is a problem: drawing that kind of distinction in the context of the tweet I replied to is nonsensical.

@VivaldiVril Exactly, knowing a lot of couples IRL or just going outside, you'll see lots of pairings like this.

Among the most delusional people on this website are the "hypergamy" guys, the guys who insist women have a mercenary tendency to only screw the highest status men available to them. This is easily disproved by anyone who knows a lot of women. My favorite example is the Kate Upton clone I knew in grad school who was dating a short, fat, ugly, dysgenic freak. It was the kind of pairing that makes you lose faith in humanity. The truth is that the "hypergamy" bros are too emotionally fragile to avoid fixating on the concept of being inevitably dumped by every woman they meet. They can't conceive of attaining a woman's love and loyalty, so they imagine such a thing doesn't exist. Pathetic, really.

@WASPmexicano Tbf when you exclude non-sexually active and only base it off self reports I would think that it skews the results a bit

@WASPmexicano 2. In fact, isn't this just clear evidence for the incels' argument? If all incels are taken out of the stats, you would expect the remaining males to have more partners.

Getting caught posting from an alt account that’s supposed to be your own mother. I’d feel sad for his loneliness and neediness if he was literally anyone else on the planet.
