We are proud to publicly launch 'The Children Behind the Headlines' film. This 12-minute film raises awareness of the impact on children when one parent is imprisoned for killing the other parent, and demonstrates the importance of providing early, trauma-informed support. Thank you to @JRCSFoundation for funding this film. For too long, these children have been invisible. Schools and other professionals are largely unaware of the issues and support is patchy and inconsistent, depending on where children live and who happens to be there to help. The full film can be viewed here: youtu.be/qpuqxVA1Jic We are calling for specific asks from the UK Government, so that children are able to mitigate the impacts of their traumatic experiences and thrive into adulthood. These include: ·   Children’s voices at the centre: every child must have an advocate, and their wishes must shape every decision. ·   Children to be identified to the local authority when one parent kills the other parent. ·   Immediate specific training available for social workers, teachers and other professionals who are in contact with children affected by domestic homicide. This could be achieved within 6 months. ·   The UK Government to include children affected by domestic homicide to be included in their upcoming Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) strategy. Our new film 'When I Grow Up' is aimed at raising awareness, understanding and empathy of parental imprisonment amongst primary school age children. The film is free to view via the link below: childrenheardandseen.co.uk/when-i-grow-up… The film is part of our Schools Package, including: - Our brand-new Online Training Programme - Our Model School Policy: Parental Imprisonment See all the details here: childrenheardandseen.co.uk/training-for-s… Both our school policy and film are completely free to implement, and our whole package focuses on creating a parental imprisonment-aware environment in the school, ensuring children receive support to 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚 and 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙚 in a non-judgmental environment. Thank you to @breakbarriers for the production of this film & Damian Mitchelmore and Rahul Moodgal for funding this project! @QadirPqadir62

A special thank you to @prisonadvice for their very invaluable training this month. If your child has a loved one in prison please contact our DSL and we can look at ways to support your child's welfare in school.
Pact@prisonadvice

Around 120,000 children will have a mum or dad in prison this #Christmas. We know that the right support is crucial in minimising long-term harm and helping them to thrive. You can help us ensure that no child faces the challenge alone. Donate to our @BigGive Christmas Challenge campaign today and double the impact of your donation - pact1.link/biggive
