Karen Bass: “How many people, who are unhoused, that you meet have no teeth at all? They don’t have teeth, why? Because meth rots your teeth. YOU CAN’T SUCCEED WITHOUT TEETH! So there needs to be comprehensive healthcare provided to people.” Karen Bass said this yesterday, Monday, in Los Angeles.

Years ago I tried to start a non-profit that delivered tampons and sanitary pads to homeless women (these supplies are often overlooked) anyway we had everything lined up, companies were going to donate the supplies, we would package and distribute. LA shut us down because we couldn’t guarantee how they would be disposed of. In fact the city fought us on it and called it an environmental hazard. Why are diapers any different? They aren’t, we just didn’t have the elite on our side.

NEWS: California will begin giving new parents 400 free diapers when they leave the hospital under a first-in-the-nation statewide program announced by Gov. Gavin Newsom. The “Golden State Start” initiative, created in partnership with Baby2Baby, will launch at 65 to 75 hospitals serving largely low-income families before expanding statewide. State officials say the program will provide more than a month’s worth of diapers to help ease the financial burden on parents.

@lthlnkso Harder to siphon cash off through the corruption by just giving cash. This way you funnel money through a charity who charges over retail for the diapers. Then the charity turns around and donates to the politicians. Just the taxpayers lose.

Why not just give cash? Cash is simpler. Don't have to worry about getting, transporting, storing, distributing diapers. Cash is better. If the new parents want diapers, they can buy diapers with cash. If the new parents received a lot of diapers as gifts from friends or family, they could spend the cash on something else.

🚨 California is now the first state to offer free diapers to newborns. Every family will receive 400 diapers.

Let me get this straight. Virginia voters created an independent redistricting commission in 2020 specifically to end partisan gerrymandering. Democrats then bypassed their own commission, rushed a constitutional amendment through while over a million people had already voted, and tried to turn a 6-5 seat advantage into 10-1. Obama backed it. Jeffries campaigned for it multiple times. House Majority PAC spent $38 million on it. The Virginia Supreme Court ruled the process violated the state constitution. Now Jeffries calls it "unprecedented and undemocratic" when a court enforces the constitution against his party. He calls it "voter suppression" when Democrats are stopped from suppressing five Republican districts into one. And he invokes Jim Crow to describe a ruling that upheld the very redistricting reform Virginia voters chose in 2020. You did not lose your voice. You lost your gerrymander. There is a difference. And the fact that you cannot tell the difference is exactly why you should not be drawing maps.
Hakeem Jeffries@RepJeffries

The decision by the Virginia Supreme Court to overturn the will of more than three million voters will not stand.

The CNN panel didn’t know what to say when they found out the new Congressional seat after Tennessee redistricted will go to a Republican black woman instead of an old white Democrat man. They had to cut to a commercial 🤣

@DavidPiotrowski LA wants to eliminare all mom & pop landlords. Large organizatuons can handle the legal fee and regulations better. They fold costs into rents amd are able to spread put the risk. Small lamdlords cant do that.

Why does LA provide a free lawyer to a tenant but not to a landlord? A tenant stops paying rent and gets a free lawyer to fight an eviction. A landlord doesn't receive his rent and needs to file an eviction out of his own funds. Does this sound fair and equitable to you?

@SheaSerrano 1:44 is the time he is scheduled to tee off. Numbers 1-17 mean he is on the course and just finished that hold (thru X), larger number 60-90 means he finished the round and shot that for the day. Column to the left is how many under par he is for the tournament.

@TomSteyer Waste of money for an investigation. Why do we have 4 companies? Because California regulations drove out all competitiin. Investigations and trying to throw blame where it does not belong will only further reduce competition.

Four corporations control 90% of California's refining capacity. That's not a market — that's a monopoly. I'll attack their grip on gas pricing and force an investigation into why Californians pay more than anyone else in the country.

I've been doing a lot of @CNN lately and I have concluded the Democratic position on Iran is: 1. We should surrender 2. Iran, with enriched uranium, a Navy, an Air Force, and missiles was less dangerous than one without. 3. We can't afford to use our missiles 4. We are not for making more missiles 5. We should keep letting Americans die from Iranian terror forever instead of stopping it. 6. We should surrender It's totally nonsensical.
