In the news, a(nother) cyclist hit by a truck. Fortunately, only minor injuries - unlike April 17, when Lauryn was killed by a truck at Clark and 11th. So unfair. So senseless. Her death was preventable.

First off, those accusations were limited to less than 5 members, if you think that should disqualify the entire party, you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what role a politician is elected to play. Also, just for clarity, what exactly makes you label them that way? Give me examples. Second, by your logic, Canada shouldn’t have diplomatic relations with a large percentage of world leaders. Saudi Arabia doesn’t love the gays, for instance, you think we should sever ties with them? And Israeli leaders have proven themselves to be egregiously racist, according to you, this means we shouldn’t have anything to do with them, either? This is, by definition, infantile reasoning.

@modacitylife While I'm among those who don't cycle due to disability, I know people who are cyclists BECAUSE of disability, ex. people with epilepsy who can't drive. A disabled friend loved the freedom her ebike gave her. (Sadly, she was hit by a truck and killed earlier this year.)

Something we often hear when we're talking about cycling infrastructure is that it’s ableist... It only allows the physically fit to use their streets; to the exclusion of everyone else especially the elderly or disabled. It's worth pushing back on that idea on several levels. 🧵

@vancolour Are you sure? Because demonizing a disabled philanthropist, regardless of his wealth, is not a winning strategy. IMO every entrepreneur and business owner, who are the life blood of our economies in BC, should be very concerned and will vote accordingly.
