ExtraEmily was trying to get Eric to talk about something because he’s a shy guy then she ended up asking him what shows he watched and then Eric talked about watching a documentary on the JKF assassination 🫣

Talking about politics on Twitter is truly as miserable as I expected it to be. These comments are unreal. Lesson learned 🤣

@Wowhead This is way better than the turbo-boosts from War Within. I’m genuinely excited for this

I’m from Washington state. It’s a shithole where I am from. It’s just like the rust belt or Appalachia. It’s a bunch of old machinist jobs kept afloat by Boeing contracts. But Boeing started leaving. And the old machinists couldn’t find work and started abusing opioids. Pills first. Then H. Now fent. In my high school, ten kids died in 4 years. All drugs. More died in car crashes. I think it’s worse than Appalachia- Because at least shit in Appalachia is cheap. For some reason Washington is expensive. Look up the housing prices sometime. 50 minutes outside of Seattle, a 1960s townhouse costs you 600k. It’s the worst state in the country to live in. Horrible weather. Extremely expensive. And now you get taxes too. I left when I turned 18. It was cheaper for me to move to LA than stay. People talk shit on California, but at least the wages match the cost. And you get the weather. And a diverse job market. And the homeless problem is BETTER HERE. Somehow Washington low rolled every single thing on the board. Best of luck, I love the summers though.
Governor Bob Ferguson@GovBobFerguson

The Millionaires’ Tax passed by the House represents historic progress in rebalancing our unfair system. It sends significant dollars back to Washington families and small businesses. It expands the Working Families Tax Credit to 460,000 additional households – that’s money straight back into the pockets of working families. It saves working parents money and ensures our kids are prepared to learn by funding free breakfast and lunch for all Washington K-12 students, which has been a priority of mine since I ran for governor. The Millionaires’ Tax will apply to less than one half of one percent of Washingtonians, but make life more affordable for millions. I look forward to signing it.

Millionaire Tax Flight is not a real thing. Of course, you can find instances of rich people moving (and, of course, they say it was because of taxes), but anecdotes aren't data. And the data is clear. Rich people don't move out of state because of taxes.
Steven Fulop@StevenFulop

This is a warning for NYC as well - People can resent the wealthy, but the math doesn’t change: a small number of taxpayers fund a large share of the system. The “tax the rich” soundbite ignores how mobile people are today. When they leave, the ripple effects go far beyond taxes - philanthropy, investment, and hiring tend to follow where people live.

@LowcarbLiberty @Seanfrank Just giving my opinion based on my real life experience 🤷‍♂️ sorry it doesn’t fit your narrative. Every situation has nuance.

@brigadoone @Seanfrank “make the state affordable for the average American” Seattle has a 35.6% commercial vacancy rate and climbing. You’re so screwed.

So what is the evidence of this? There are still Boeing, Amazon, and Microsoft jobs in Washington…I don’t doubt this may cause some business owner to move and take their business, but I bet the majority of jobs will stay in Washington, and it’ll now be more affordable for the middle class.

@qthomp How many of those are actually impacted by the income tax though? Do you think 22% of people in Washington make over a million dollars a year?

I'd officially like to nominate Washington as the most unintelligent political body in the whole United States. The tech sector's contribution to GDP there is the highest of any state, aka you just put a wealth tax on the country's most MOBILE work force. Wonder how this ends.

Autism Capital 🧩@AutismCapital

🚨BREAKING: Washington State passes their first ever income tax. Incomes over $1M/year will be taxed at 9.9%. Married couples share A SINGLE $1M exemption, so if combined incomes are more than $1M, you're getting taxed. This will obviously eventually extend beyond millionaires. What comes for others, will eventually come for you! RIP Washington state!

@qthomp Quinn did you know that we (Washington) have a 7% tax on *long-term* capital gains? They literally disincentivize saving long term.

Twitter is blue pilling me by throwing the most misinformed and disingenuous takes from conservatives. There’s a lot you can criticize about Washington. High income tax is not one of them.

Are tax breaks for small businesses meaningless? Is removing sales tax on common products like diapers and hygiene products meaningless? What about expanding free breakfast and lunch to more students? I get it's annoying when the only messaging you see are that taxes are being increased, but there is a plan.

@PaulTassi Yeah..I get where they’re coming from, but personally this just means I’d wait until late March to determine if the game is even worth buying. In that case why release the game without it?

They are absolutely doing this to avoid another Destiny situation where it had a bunch of scored reviews in before Vault of Glass, its best piece of content, actually dropped. But as they say, this is not a demand or embargo mandate
Marathon Bulletin@TauCetiGG

‼️NEW: Looks like Bungie is encouraging critics/reviewers to hold off on publishing full Marathon reviews until later in March, when Cryo Archive, the game’s endgame zone, becomes available. Cryo Archive features raid-like mechanics/Compiler bosses with overall increased difficulty. (via notebookcheck)
