@dedene @emanueledpt And I am forgetting things much faster from the B.C era just because not using them much.

What other outcomes? People act like we have more sane people in power here in the US than China does. Like America is actually a “democracy” as opposed to what it is, paid off politicians. And our population is CLEARLY too stupid to see through it. So wouldn’t China winning be safer for the would than the clown show here in the US??

The "DeepSeek Problem" is a Scarcity Delusion. You are showing clear signs of little man syndrome. Your analysis of the DeepSeek release relies on a fundamental assumption: that the United States is a benevolent actor and that its dominance is the only "safe" outcome. This is a massive blind spot. Critiquing China’s influence while the USA continues to blow up innocent children in schools and hospitals is beyond ignorant, it’s a refusal to acknowledge our own moral debt. Furthermore, you’re pretending the central bank doesn’t have a massive stake in this narrative. This isn't just about "intelligence," it’s about maintaining a financial hegemony that is terrified of losing its grip. Your anxiety stems from their anxiety because you are dependent on them. 1. Information Has No Flag Open source isn't a "Chinese advantage," it’s a universal state update, and it benefits everyone everywhere. If China is currently taking the lead in open-source AI it’s because they are more intelligent. They deserve the win. That isn't a "bad spot" for the world, it’s an honest reflection of merit. Quit being a sore loser before the game is even over. 2. Scarcity vs. Abundance You are clinging to a scarcity mindset. You view intelligence as a proprietary weapon to be hoarded rather than a fundamental resource of the universe. When we treat information like a zero-sum game we stall the evolution of consciousness. 3. The Tribalist Trap Tribalism is the root of all racism, and this brand of tech-nationalism is just a high-tech version of the same old rot. By framing a technological breakthrough as a geopolitical "threat," you are choosing tribal borders over human progress. 4. Stop Being Goblin Pilled Your entire argument is goblin pilled. It’s driven by greed, fear, and the hoarding of shiny things at the expense of collective creativity. We should be celebrating the democratization of intelligence, not panicking because the "wrong" people are the ones making it happen. If the universe is information, you can't gatekeep reality forever.

American open source AI is in trouble. China is eating our lunch. This is a bigger problem than people realize.

I am averaging $0.012 (ONE CENT) spent per 1M Tokens used with @deepseek_ai V4 Flash using @NousResearch hermes agent due to caching (via @openrouter). Unbelievable that we finally reached a point where intelligence isn't restricted by costs anymore at all.

@idarbek Having your backups on the same vendor as your production database puts you at risk of your vendor banning your account for some reason (like billing messups, or detected CSAM in user-uploaded content) - having your backups held outside that vendor protects against that

The conclusions here feel wrong to me. The two lessons I see are: 1. Don't run agents anywhere they might be able to access production environment credentials - it's on you to know which credentials those are 2. Keep tested backups that are independent from your production host

@jonathan_wilke Claude Pro $20 plan using Sonnet 4.6. New session and asked to plan and create tickets for 4 basic tasks. It did and worked on those tasks. 50% used in current session. Less than 20 minutes.

Reading through the comments on this post really makes me wonder what people are doing 🤯 Personally, I am on the $200/mo plan of Cursor, I code with it 8-10 hours per day and running multiple agents in parallel, but I never even got close to hitting the limits of the plan. not sure if I'm doing something wrong or them 😅

I'm gonna say it: As it stands today, @cursor_ai is the best agentic coding tool out there. No jumping between terminal and editor, nice UI and you don't have to switch the tool if there's a new model. change my mind.

@jonathan_wilke @amorriscode Is there a /feedback feature for ClaudeDesktop yet? Maybe this 50% is the new normal but if not would like to provide some data to be able to make this better.
