@brooke @Delta This is just not true. Diamond Delta here. I almost always get the Delta One upgrade between SF and NYC when booking normal seats for like 30,000 miles. $300 worth of miles results in $1,500-$2,000 all the time.

A travel expert just told me that my @delta mileage and status were worthless and the worst mileage program by 10x. He said 200,000 Chase points or United miles worth more than almost 2 million Delta miles. Said the Delta Amex is the worst mileage credit card. I’m apoplectic!

@MilesTalk @Delta That’s exactly what the guy I spoke to says. The least valuable mile in the us market. I’m so sad.

A bit exaggerated but not far off. They have arguably the best product in the US. But Medallion upgrades have become unicorns and they openly admit they don’t want to give value for SkyMiles. They are by far the least valuable mile in the US market. And indeed all your spend should be on transferable points cards unless your Delta Amex spend is intentionally to earn MQDs and will level you up meaningfully while you earn essentially less than a cash back card setup.

@SteveGosset @Delta I agree and have seen some great value but when the guy broke it down for me it was tough to see. Especially because my main cities are ny and la which are not awesome.

@brooke @Delta That’s a gross exaggeration at best. It all depends on the route and when you want to fly. Lately, DL has been pricier. But not always. And I’ve been getting upgrades despite only being Silver Medallion. I also have the Delta Reserve card and get enough value to justify the fee.

@nick_farina @Delta I agree… I explained that the experience is better than anything else, but they do need to figure out the mileage because more people are gonna figure it out. Like I can’t get to France this summer without paying retail and I have over 2,000,000 miles. Unless I fly multiple legs

@brooke @Delta The flip side of this is that by many measures Delta is the best airline. To have the best of all worlds, I carry the CSR card bc their points are incredibly valuable and flexible but would still fly Delta if I lived in a hub city bc of their ops and fleet. In ORD, stuck on UA.

@markwooster @Delta I do too, but he’s saying that the value of the miles especially if you’re in LA or New York are virtually worthless compared to others. What would cost 200,000 miles on one airline will cost about 1 million on Delta. He said it’s great if you’re outside of the US.

@brooke hmmm, i'm not following very closely but that was not the sense i had. @grok is that right that spencer pratt's campaign is only resonating with super rich elites in LA?

I am not sure the Spencer Pratt strategy will work in the long run. The elitist super richy rich group is def a thing in LA but super small comparatively. And seems big because they are all over socials but I just think of you take a step back, it isn’t the driving force of LA.

@brooke wait isn't that the reason his strategy *will* work? he is speaking to people who are sick of the elitist super richy rich group making reckless decisions
