Yesterday, my office gathered with @NYCCouncil, @BKBPReynoso, and @BrooklynKids to mark Haitian Flag Day, celebrating the spirit of freedom, pride, and resilience of our Haitian neighbors and friends in Flatbush and beyond. Ayibobo! 🇭🇹

Tomorrow, we will lower flags to half mast at all City buildings to honor of George Gresham — a giant of New York’s labor movement and a relentless champion for working people. From the hospital floor to the presidency of 1199SEIU, he dedicated his life to fighting for the dignity, safety and economic security of health care workers and their families.   Our hearts are with his family, loved ones and the entire 1199SEIU community. New York is stronger because of George’s life and work, and his legacy will continue to guide the generations of organizers and workers who follow in his footsteps.

No sentence can undo the unimaginable pain of a mother grieving the loss of a second son to gun violence in just three weeks. My office will continue working with the NYPD to defend the hard-won progress against gun violence in our communities.
