I don’t endorse everyone I reference, quote, allude to, or whose content I share. I may agree with one thing they said and reference it but that is not an endorsement. For example… I don’t endorse the Bible Project or agree with everything they do. But I recently used some of their content as B-roll in a short I posted online. I also expressed gratitude for the high quality graphics they created, which I used to help communicate an important point. Interestingly, I’m not sure they would even agree with the point I was making in my video. I suspect they would not. They have some really great content and some other stuff I disagree with. I don’t think I have to agree with everything a group says in order to point to, or use something they did that was good. I think there are two schools of thought on this. School one: Don’t quote or reference positively anyone who you don’t endorse generally. School two: A quote or reference is only in support of the content in the quote or reference and one doesn’t need to agree with or endorse generally someone they positively utilize. I’m in school two. But many of you are understandably in school one. This causes regular confusion that I am endorsing things and people I am not. I hope this helps clear that up a bit.
