@ThadOfSphere @Grady_Booch Not much has changed. However, now the hypesters are aware of how rich they can get on hype alone.
English

@Grady_Booch I agree with you. But at the same time, expert systems were kind of a scam.
English

@carolecadwalla I wonder how many bugs they planted. Great Seal of America bug and all that.

This is such a weird story. Russian diplomats joined a tour (who? how?) & accessed an off-limits area of the House of the Lords. Also: why??

@kejamieson_ I was looking at these and battling my inner child🤣🤣

@hammbe @vivamjm @onewendy @faisalislam Yes, no. The SM and CU cover related but different trade issues.
Norway is in the SM through its EFTA membership but not the Customs Union.
English

@bsdnazz @vivamjm @SimonPease1 @onewendy @faisalislam @donnyc1975 can you be in a Single Market but not in a Customs Union? Is that logically impossible?

What’s happening to food exports?Coming up on #bbcnews10 Bridport, Dorset fishing business owner Charlie Samway describes new 26 step process to export back across Channel what they catch in it... adamant a month in, having prepared extensively, these aren’t “teething problems..”

@MrGibbo84 @LizWebsterSBF @deanh1976 Nah, the supermarkets have put farmers in a very tough place. The EU is not perfect, but it's better than what we have now.
English

@bsdnazz @LizWebsterSBF @deanh1976 That the EU was distorting markets long before the supermarkets got too powerful. But you're right. The UK's EU membership has been consigned to history, let's move on.

Former deputy PM Lord Heseltine said that nearly five years on, Brexit “has been a historic disaster”.
“It has destroyed Britain’s leadership in Europe just at a time when there was a critical need (for it), it has closed off opportunities for the younger generation to share in the benefits of Europe and it has denied Britain’s industrial base access to the research and policies of Europe. Our economy is much worse because of it and there is no reputable authority that denies this.
“I think the British people know that they were deceived and the deceit is measured in reduced living standards,” he added.

@implausibleblog The biggest obstacle to deporting illegal immigrants (I don't mean asylum seekers) is finding countries that will take them.
Leaving the ECHR won't change that, but grifters gonna grift.
English

Nigel Farage, "Until we can deport those that should not be in our country.. And we'll never do that signed up to a convention to an outdated court in Strasbourg"
"We have have to leave the ECHR and get rid of those who should not be here"
"We've got the courage to say that, we've got the courage to do that, and frankly, nobody else does"
English

@LizWebsterSBF @deanh1976 The common agricultural policy distorted then markets too. Remember the milk lakes and butter mountains?

Israeli Director of GIS Center at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem Adi Ben Nun in an interview with Ynet:
“We have hit all the systems of existence in Gaza, the water wells, the sewage system, the water infrastructure, the agricultural fields, the cattle and sheep herds. Look at the Philadelphi, see what was there before—full of houses, orchards—and now it’s like the moon’s surface. Craters instead of houses.”

@DachshundColin LoL! In nation of shopkeepers where to customer is always right!
English

Imagine being such a dingleberry that you're upset about the signs being in the language all the tourists speak, but not that the shop name is French.

This is not homophobic. This isn’t how you’d spell ‘poof’. The context is clear. Let’s give the manufactured outrage a rest, deal with real homophobia and give @Lord_Sugar a break.

The Russians are fighting a new Cold War with The West, and we'd better wise up to that fact.
Carole Cadwalladr@carolecadwalla
What our govts are refusing to acknowledge is that Russia is at war with us. As ex-head of MI6 acknowledges here. The culture of denial - that's at the heart of this podcast - is actively endangering us. It's why it's so vital that denial now ends. 4/ news.sky.com/story/europe-i…

@OllyMetcalfe If she's earning £12k a year, I'd like to know she pays for school fees and everything else she has to pay for - housing, food, utilities.
English

Private schools are only for the wealthy & 'elite'?
Try telling that to Monica, a single mother earning £12,500 p.a., and the thousands like her.
"This tax won’t target the wealthy, it’s going after hard-working families and single mothers.”

@DhalgrenMarquis @Grady_Booch @nvidia The core issue is that LLMs are just predictive text on an epic scale. There's no understanding or modelling of things, ideas, and concepts.
They'll end up being the average of the Internet.
English

@Grady_Booch @nvidia The bottleneck is data, not hardware. Show me actual evidence that hardware scaling has slow, and that’s it a NOT a lack of true and valid information in the data sets.
