@Dotties_FlwrFrm @TeenyWeenyFarm @Sofaflyer I think it is the urea that acts as the activator - I don't know if coffee contains this. #britishflowers
English

@Dotties_FlwrFrm I use compost that I dig out and sieve from the communal wood chip bays over the winter. #BritishFlowers
English

@Neil_gardens I could only ever make a tiny drop in the ocean of compost requirement! #neverenough #britishflowers
English

Do most people make enough compost for there own needs or do you buy in? #britishflowers
English

@TeenyWeenyFarm We don't use wormers, but happened to leave a box full of paperbacks out in the corner of our yard, and after a few months we had a baby worm farm, which was promptly added to our compost bin #britishflowers
English

@TeenyWeenyFarm Love my wormery! Keep me company in my shed provide litres of amazing plant food and rich compost that is used for top dressing large pots #britishflowers
English

@Neil_gardens Now that's what I call a compost heap!! #britishflowers
English

@BeeFlowerGarden @Sofaflyer @EmmaGreenshaw @MFCFlowers Who needs a gym membership - just have a 3 bay compost heap! #britishflowers
English

@bucketsofblooms @Sofaflyer @EmmaGreenshaw @MFCFlowers I don’t really turn it, just move from one bay to the next. I have one I’m using, one rotting down and one filling up. It’s usually a once a year job to move them all along and I’ve just done it - really hard work! #britishflowers
English

@BeeFlowerGarden @EmmaGreenshaw @MFCFlowers Oh what a shame - that would have worked out at 9 tonnes per FFTF member, a far better use!! #britishflowers
English

@bucketsofblooms @EmmaGreenshaw @MFCFlowers Yes it’s really annoying! When the fire started it was very small and the fire brigade decided to let it burn itself out, unfortunately it spread and I think they lost something like 4500 tonnes! It was burning for about 6 weeks! #britishflowers
English

@normandygrower The blacker it was the more I liked it. I never had a problem, but always planted through it into soil level below - a bit like planting through black plastic #britishflowers
English

Have just got my first green waste compost but think it is too black and possibly composted too fast too hot-will it be ok to use? #britishflowers
English

@BeeFlowerGarden @EmmaGreenshaw @MFCFlowers Oh no - just when it is probably most useful! #britishflowers
English

@bucketsofblooms @EmmaGreenshaw @MFCFlowers Yes I love green waste too! We have a big green waste plant about 2 miles away. We can collect in a trailer and they charge about £12/tonne. Unfortunately they had a fire after Christmas so won’t be selling compost for a couple of months! #britishflowers
English

@BeeFlowerGarden @Sofaflyer @EmmaGreenshaw @MFCFlowers How long does it take to compost and how many times doe you turn the compost? #britishflowers
English

@Sofaflyer @EmmaGreenshaw @MFCFlowers Yes, I love my compost heap! My husband made 4 bays about 18 years ago. One for leaf mould and 3 for compost at varying stages of decomposition #britishflowers
English

@Sofaflyer Thanks Mike. Great hour everyone, thanks @RubyBlooms2018 and @thepatientmole . Have a good week. #britishflowers
English

Thanks to everyone on tonight's lively and interesting #britishflowers hour. Have a good week.
English

@RubyBlooms2018 I did mine late last year (I forgot about it!) so did just the one sowing mid May, I’ve got a proper plan this year and will be putting some in mid March and another batch later on #Britishflowers
English

@BeeFlowerGarden @RubyBlooms2018 Worth trying if you have excess seed. It's always better to buy fresh (or save your own if possible) for the next year so nothing to lose #britishflowers
English

@RubyBlooms2018 I don’t direct sow anything, there’s too many ‘risks’ here! Although it’s amazing how many things self-sow that if I sow them they never appear! #britishflowers
English

@RubyBlooms2018 I have direct sown larkspur, ammi and cornflower (autumn), cerinthe, nigella and moluccella #britishflowers
English

@RubyBlooms2018 @HelenHeartsease @TreesPayne @thepatientmole Absolutely. lots of time yet #britishflowers
English

@TeenyWeenyFarm @TreesPayne @BeeFlowerGarden @farm_pink @englishpeonies @Sofaflyer @RubyBlooms2018 Yes I've read the same thing. I've got red/yellow ones that have multiplied in my garden - not the best selling colour though - not blush enough! #britishflowers
English

Good evening all. We are talking seed sowing and propagation tonight. What are you sowing and growing? Share your tips and questions #britishflowers hour with @RubyBlooms2018 and @Sofaflyer
English

@kim_ford6 @RubyBlooms2018 The more you grow the more you will spot the useful self-sown seedlings you want to keep. spotted my first selfsown orlaya last year - brilliant! #natureshelpinghand #britishflowers
English

@RubyBlooms2018 I’m sure I spend half my life trying to figure out whether something is a weed or something I want to keep #britishflowers
