Minecraft was a launchpad for sooo many internet native careers! I could only transition from competitive gamer to YouTuber because Minecraft existed! It was the only game that would allow you to monetize your videos and keep 100% of the share instead of sueing the crap out of you (Sony, Nintendo, ...). After allowing me to become a YouTuber it's countless creative use cases allowed me to then run a Minecraft business and give "internet jobs" to dozens of other kids my age (13-16). That was over a decade ago. OG gaming, streaming, community management, monetization, etc. freaking awesome!
I don't think any other platform has that same complete optionality built in today... every other platform wants to trap you.

Minecraft was the greatest CS education ever made. And nobody planned it that way.
At 12 I was obsessed. Wanted my own servers. So I learned Bukkit, Java plugins, basic networking, Linux deployment. Built worlds that only exist in my mind but still feel completely real.
I broke wifi routers and fixed them. Broke Windows configs and fixed them.
Tinkering, breaking stuff, and fixing it later is how we learn stuff best when we are kids.

it took 4 weeks.
today I paid $25, it took 15min 🤯
