@ChristianHeiens Nothing is really on a permanent basis if you want to look at it like that. We’ll all be dust soon enough.

Even if the Right continues to lose politically, nature will do the job that conservatives could not. There is no world where Progressivism wins on a permanent basis.

The lesson that every Dem needs to take from this--as well as the previous ~10 years of politics--is: Don't depend on the online Far-Left for political support. No matter how much you cater to them, if you say *one* thing that diverges from "The Party," they will sabotage you.

The political influencers ripping into Beshear over this are obsessed with Israel and mistakenly assume the median voter is as well. Most people do not care about Israel or Gaza. This is not a top 10 issue going into the primaries.
POLITICO@politico

Dem @GovAndyBeshear is declining to call Israel’s actions in Gaza “genocide.” “That’s becoming one of those new litmus tests that we said we would never do as a party,” he told our @DashaBurns on #TheConversation. Listen to the full interview: politi.co/4uVmEfE

@zachweinberg There are probably 3x as many moderate Dem senators as progressive ones and you all still complain.

This is why moderate Dems feel homeless with the current Dem party leadership. Elizabeth Warren, one of the faces of the Dem party, is actively just anti-business. Doesn't really want to help anyone, just angry that sometimes people make money building things for customers.
Alec Stapp@AlecStapp

This is why we must hold the line against slopulism in housing policy. At first Warren's position was "investors can build as many apartment buildings as they want, they just can't build single-family homes to rent" Now she is sending menacing letters to institutional investors who build multi-family apartments and manufactured housing.

The idea that we wouldn’t be at war with Iran if Kamala was president or even involved in something much worse is ridiculous. She’s a totally vacant person and the reason that there was extraordinary establishment enthusiasm for her is because she is totally pliable and would have been at the whim of nat sec and the administrative state. The whole point of Kamala is that you could wheel her around as a prop just like Joe Biden, but it would be a little less work and maybe people would find it a little less off putting.

@bummerlog @D_perrino @awstar11 It wasn't R's, it was D's. They demanded other concessions on what ICE could and could not do. They held up the deal through fillibuster. After the narrative changed D's caved.

@bummerlog @cafreiman I would guess that he just grabbed a chart he had on hand. Obviously the 2020-21 spike was temporary, but that wasn't really the point of the chart, which is that the government does in fact spend much more on subsidies to private consumption than on the military.

@1MrFantasy @WalshFreedom It's a tough debate because what Israel is doing is objectively ethnic cleansing, that's impossible to deny. By staking the debate on genocide, specifically, we leave a lot of room for argument. But it is a valid argument.

@WalshFreedom Joe, if it's not genocide, show me where the 2.5m Palestinians who lived in Gaza are? If you can show me a mass of people like that, I'll take your side, but you can't cuz most are dead. Genocide.

This is a bad answer. It’s a non-answer, it’s an answer based on fear & caution pounded into his head by advisors & consultants. Fuck that. If you’re asked if Israel has committed “genocide,” say yes or no. Period. When I’m asked that question I emphatically say “No.” And most Democrats disagree with me, but they appreciate my honesty. These inauthentic non-answers ain’t gonna cut it anymore.

@3RenChengHu @cafreiman Meaning he was trying to give the impression this was a permanent thing by cutting off this big drop post-covid.
