Kid Rock, real name Robert James Ritchie, ignited this scandal when he posted videos to social media showing two $50 million Apache attack helicopters hovering near his pool as he clapped and saluted. He shared them along with (for some reason) an attack on Governor Gavin Newsom. Many Americans were understandably incensed to see their tax dollars being used for such a mindless MAGA internet stunt. The Army was right to suspend the aircrews and launch and investigation, but now Hegseth has inserted himself into the situation, once again politicizing a military that's supposed to be nonpartisan. Greg Kelly also mentioned the issue on his Tuesday show, stating “We like Kid Rock, he likes Trump. But what if some pilot decided to fly by, I don’t know, Cher’s house, and Cher can be— I don’t know what her politics are, but whatever.” He added that the “crowd wants people to say this is great, but sometimes the commander, the responsible officer, literally the responsible officer has to make unpopular decisions with the troops and with the people.” “Leadership, it can be lonely, and I don’t think a lot of people who are shooting their mouths off right now know enough about it,” he said. As we know well by now, Hegseth has no interest in actual leadership. He's a drunken, clueless MAGA loyalist who's more interested in projecting a twelve-year-old boy's idea of strength.
