@AvgDatabaseCEO @hiwinit That's me in the screenshot im really inspired by your work, averageDB is the best db company out there and I would love to contribute. I’m very interested in an internship opportunity. If there are any openings I would be grateful for a chance to contribute.

@hiwinit They seem affectionate on the timeline so I wanted to honor them. Meant to leave it up for only a week. I’m super busy though managing my database empire.

hello there! i got a job. i'll be joining @niledatabase as a founding engineer, which means I GET TO WORK ON DATABASES FOR A LIVING. i've been and i'm really excited for this. feels like a rare opportunity to work on infra like this full-time with a team that's deeply strong at what they do. i could not think of a better way to learn and to start my professional career. thanks so much @gwenshap and @sriramsubram for this. we're so so so back.

i realized i never actually explained how it works so here's a gist. it starts off with `discodb-wal`. that stores the catalog info, and the wal entries. instead of using channels for tables, they're for segments. a table can span over multiple segments. each segment has messages. rowheaders are stored in the message content (b64 encoded). the row body is stored in an embed in the same message. segments are put into categories which are used as table namespaces. indexes are stored in forums. every forum is an index entry. why forums? every post is an independent thread. posts are sortable. every post has a special first message that stores the payloads. all of this uses the same wire protocol as postgres so you can just `psql` to a discodb server and use it like you would use any postgres db. ill soon be done with working mvcc, transaction management, fsm, file storage, and a much better sql engine.

discodb now has * indexes stored in b-trees powered by forums * delete, update, drop table support * 10x heap throughput due to webhooks most importantly, TOAST overflow for large values, so it can finally store your mom in the db. and obv, everything is stored on discord.
