𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝘼𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙛𝙩 by @byshinytiger 🐢⛰️🎍 The story takes place during the Silla Dynasty period. A large, turtle-shaped mountain is seen adrift in the sea. On this mountain grew a bamboo tree that split into two during the day and became one at night. When the bamboo was cut to make a flute, it became the Manpasikjeok, a mystical flute that could repel all calamities. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝘼𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙛𝙩 is a work that blends Korean mythology — where the realms of nature and mysticism intertwine — with the vivid, imaginative spirit of Gaudi. 신라시대, 작은 산이 바다 위를 표류해 내려오는데, 이는 거북이의 형상을 똑 닮았다. 그 산에는 낮에는 둘로, 밤에는 하나가 되는 대나무가 있다. 이 대나무를 베어 피리를 만드니, 온갖 재난을 물리치는 만파식적이 되었다. 는 자연과 상상이 어우러진 한국의 신화를 가우디의 상상력을 빌려 표현했다.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗺 𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 🇨🇦🇬🇧 #theoulim2024 @GaudiFoundation @theMoonLabs I’m excited to be part of the <𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗺> Exhibition, in collaboration with The Moon Labs and the Gaudí Foundation. The Oulim 2024, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), will take place in Toronto and London this fall. The exhibition explores Gaudí’s unique philosophy of natural design and the unbounded fusion of cultures. For this show, I’ve created <𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝘼𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙛𝙩>, blending Gaudí’s flowing lines and decorative details with Korean motifs, inspired by the traditional '𝘐𝘳𝘸𝘰𝘭 𝘖𝘣𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘥𝘰' painting. The work is rooted in the ancient Korean legend of the '𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘬𝘫𝘦𝘰𝘬', a magical flute said to bring peace to the land. Through this piece, I invite you to explore the interplay between nature, mythology, and architecture—maybe you’ll even catch a glimpse of Gaudí’s spirit hidden within.
