Now that the new M5 Vision Pro has been out for a few months, it's a good excuse to resurface something I built last year: Containment Unit. A spatial computing immersive experience where you summon procedural lifeforms into your room. 🎧

This feels like such a disappointing way for @fx_hash_ to wind down. I had so much fun on this platform and in this community for the lights to just go off silently. Nothing on X, nothing public. No "thanks for the good times, please export/migrate your art." Just ... gone.

i am genuinely curious if one could fine tune a big model on all of the handmade/BSC community’s repos, jon’s jai work, Ryan’s debugger codebase, carmack etc and extract actually good programming patterns? would take a lot of overseeing and RL at first but then could be applied by those who don’t have a baseline of perf/cache optimization/etc to their domains and help them learn. might be a way to shift the direction of software while getting a piece of their hype $$

This implies AI is not “really good at coding”, since the output quality is still bottlenecked by human verification. But because LLMs allow human verification to be a weaker constraint, in practice, simply less of it happens. Result is a larger quantity of slop. Far less value than asserted—and certainly too little value to justify all current investments.

software is only getting worse, more bugs, bad uptime which is weird because ai is really good at coding at this point the productivity gains are erased by the speed of creation; we move faster but not "better"
