After 3.5 years, I finally got myself a Bored Ape—a dream for any NFT collector. People say NFTs are dead and will never reach previous highs. Some might even think I’m crazy for buying one. But in my opinion, they’re missing the bigger picture: •Digital ownership is inevitable—our lives are online, so why shouldn’t our assets be? •NFTs aren’t just collectibles—they power gaming, DeFi, memberships, and real-world authentication. •Status symbols aren’t going anywhere—people love flexing rare assets, digital or not. •Web3 and the metaverse are coming, and NFTs will be the backbone. When it comes to NFT collections, @BoredApeYC and @Azuki are among the safer bets—they’ve proven themselves time and time again. It’s a lower-risk investment in an evolving space. The tech is here to stay. The real question is: who’s paying attention?

I can't help but feel that founders and companies who are laser focused on building the most valuable product are much more exciting than those focused on lobbying nation-states to buy equity in their company. In crypto there are so many examples of short-term thinking. What is trending on X or in their group chat for the month or quarter distracts from longer-term ideas and innovation, and some get caught up and miss out on opportunities on a longer time horizon. This meta seems like a similar thing. If you've built something extremely valuable and differentiating (and it will probably take many years to do so), your company will be 100X better off in the long run. But if we're talking reality, the number of people building long-term companies in crypto is just so much smaller than in the traditional software because founders and early team members can exit and retire much earlier because liquidity comes much earlier. I would say that if you're a founder, this is an opportunity to leave a lasting positive legacy, but in reality I don't think most people actually care about that. And our industry doesn't seem to care either. On the other hand, maybe it's good because you inject more liquidity into your company and project and therefore can fund innovation over a longer time horizon, but again see above about long time horizons in crypto (they rarely exist) Also I'm bullish on experimentation and maybe one can look at this as experimentation. This is not about any certain company or founder, this is just a brain dump.
