@ContrarianCurse Used to take me forever to get out of a rabbit hole, now I’m in and out of dozens a day. Great for that nagging itch to complete side quests when doing primary work.

LLMs are honestly like crack cocaine for a curious person. I would say my overall phone usage is up (to the point I’m actively setting windows to hide it away) and then also it is also dominating the time on my phone away from social media

Why is raw milk twice as much as regular milk? Shouldn’t it be the same or cheaper if it’s right out of the cow?

“we live in an interesting new world where execution is quite cheap” Classic software ideology where you iterate vs hardware that has to work out of the box. But will it manifest in physical world too? Broad fast fashion? Lower prices but much more volume?

Seems like software has 3 options at this point: cut staff, increase hardware mix (like ORCL), or sell longer contracts (would require a subsidy to buyer). I don’t know how you convince anyone of the durability of cash flow beyond 2-3 years without doing these things.

The whole “portfolio construction” narrative from SG is the interesting predicament these folks are dealing with and may arguably have little experience with as private / illiquid or semi-liquid managers - open-end funds know this flow dynamic well and it’s accounted for.

If your portfolio is 20% software, you decide whether or not you believe the market price. If you don’t, you sell other buckets first - that’s the risk - do you want to crystallize that software mark or put selling pressure on the rest of the portfolio? Tough one.

New CEO at $ADBE is going to come in. I bet once a new leadership comes in there will be massive restructuring costs to drive free cash flow. Stock is too cheap here.

The best thing about having a wife is literally everything. I’m in my 20s and it’s the best thing ever. Nothing compares to waking up next to your wife.

@RampCapitalLLC What size plants did you start with? I’m looking at an organic variety pack but they’re all quarts and feel like I might be too impatient for that?

Planting berry bushes is arguably one of the highest gardening ROIs and easiest to maintain. I currently have 10+ blackberries, 10 blueberry bushes, and 5 raspberries in my backyard and I still want to expand it further. Last year I picked >10lbs of blackberries alone. Didn’t weigh the blueberries and raspberries but probably 15lbs total (all organic). And the yields will increase every year. On top of all of that, all you basically have to do is water if it gets super hot and fertilize once a month. And the biggest benefit is it’s a great activity to do with your kids to get them outside and away from screens. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

My kids just ate $40 dollars worth of these berries...as a snack. It's so ridiculously expensive to put proper nutrition in them. No idea how people manage it, and if they don't, what the long term health consequences are.

Showed 2 people Claude yesterday automating a login and then downloading stuff to folders for me from a website. “But how do you know it’s accurate?” One of them hired their college aged son as an intern last summer. How do I know any of what he did is accurate?

@evantindell Definitely… they’re like 0.5x net levered on fwd EBITDA and rating capacity up to 2x… don’t see why they wouldn’t pull forward the buyback a bit and issue $10-15B with no risk to ratings (albeit probably has to come relatively cheap given backdrop…)

You’re telling me Orlando isn’t underwriting WDAY with a 50% EBITDA margin on $12B of sales? He’s gotta be out there asking for bigger checks. This is his moment.

The best models for simple copy edit and writing support were the early ones - maybe GPT 3.5. It’s like these new ones are trying too hard. I’m constantly fighting them to stop dishing out buzz words and meaningless jargon. It’s painful to read.

The truth of it is we still have a major shortage of “atom” based jobs and the government should be doing everything in their power to accelerate retraining programs for white-collar workers into healthcare, the trades, etc.
