@_the__Goat_ @KytorIndustries Why? Why would having properly filtered DC power from a single source be worse than a half a dozen 20 year old AC adapters?

@KytorIndustries So instead of each console having a dedicated power cord, you think it is better for them to be tied together? That is worse in every way.

Introducing the RetroTap power distribution system for retro consoles. RetroTap replaces the tangled mess of aging, bulky wall warts with a modern central power solution engineered for simplicity and exceptionally low ripple. /1

This might be the first time I've seen a community note on a CRT post lol. I think we should cut him a little slack if this model uses CRT guns inside. That said, we had one of those front-CRT-projection-off-a-mirror monstrosities and the image quality was awful.

@brandonx76 @PixelCNinja @matthewhenzel Sure but why did you ask if you meant something above a 15khz CRT? You can scale any MiSTer core with the scaler option if you're going to 480p or higher.

@brandonx76 @PixelCNinja @matthewhenzel You can't really do anything bigger than 1x, because it's 160x144. 2x at 320x288 would be missing about 40 lines on 240p. Maybe you could do 3x at 480x432 using 480i?

@Stevesje72 @usa_retro It will last a very long time with normal household use, and it doesn't matter that it's not the same as a new tube. There are no new tubes.

@usa_retro It’s nonsense. This will not last a long time and will not be the same as a good emission crt which hasn’t been rejuvenated.

I just did a rejuvenation procedure on this Sony CRT in this PVM 20M2MDU. The tube had borderline bad emissions & was unusable due to the white balance being way off. After a clean & balance, the colors are popping & the emissions are good again. The BK467 saves another PVM!

@DAVID_FIRTH May I say that I discovered one of my favourite albums (Animal Collective's Sung Tongs) from the track Winter's Love that was in one of your videos 20+ years ago.

Anyone from a record label tell me what's the benefit of forcing a Youtube creator to remove 12 seconds of music from a video uploaded 15 years ago? How does that benefit you? People FIND your music this way!

The factory bodges on this board show why the -02 board revision is the more common one. That's a lot of hand wiring!

#arcade and #snk friends, I have an Athena PCB that is not in MAME. The video board is A6001 UP01-01, not -02. The main ROM does not match the 'athena' romset, but half of it matches 'athenab', which has the mysterious note 'really a bootleg?' in snk.cpp. Anyone else have this?

@BlueShell3D The MT-100 uses QD disks not 3.5" floppies. The MT-200 and MT-300 are quite different since they're based on the SC-55, but they use standard floppies.

@callanbrown Are you using low density disks? I don’t think it can handle 1.44s. I have not tried disks in mine yet. I’m not that interested in using it for anything other than as an MT-32. Also I have this big boy that’s a bit more flexible.

@callanbrown It for sure lets you focus on a small part. But the overall flow and total system design gets lost. Have you ever repaired a radio/tv/amplifier?

I wonder how many small separate blocks this schematic would have been broken up into if it was drawn today by the current generations of EEs (or hobbyists). I'd guess at least like 25-30. And the blocks would just be haphazardly scattered around the sheet.

@RDKLInc @iHCJoseph @midwestgoonie I didn't believe you either, because I collect these things but I checked eBay and I'm seeing multiple sold SE/30s up in that range. Guess I can retire.

RECYCLERS: There is no reason to drill the ports on the back of a Macintosh SE/30 from 1989. This does nothing but reduce a $700 antique computer to a pile of trash. It lived for 40 years, in perfect shape, until it encountered YOU. I'm surprised I have to say this. (Then again, no, I'm not surprised.)

@MisterAddons The real problem with cocktails is that they take up so much room, at least compared to an American style stand up. The only one I've held on to is my red tent (which I might argue is more like a candy cab anyway).

@TakiUdon_ Amazing! Looks great. Can you clear up one thing - is there a custom PS1 mode? Or is it straight MiSTer all the time? Wondering how the PS1 discs will be handled, since disc support is often requested for MiSTer cores.

The world's first affordable FPGA gaming console. Inspired by the PS one. Supports PS1 games, memory cards, and controllers. Analog/Digital output. NFC/WiFi/BT. MiSTer FPGA compatible. Disc support not pictured. Pricing starts at $149 for founders and friends.
